Watching FC race he appears to have lost interest in racing. I hear what your saying about placing him where he can win, but I'm thinking he'll show the same lack of interest in those races. And how low do you go? Will we see him in 40K claimers at some point, or at Mountaineer for $3000? Where's the bottom? When do you say he was a great horse and diserves to spend the rest of his days chillin?
I think it's sooner than many of you think. That's my view Spyder from SC |
I don't have a problem with Funny Cide racing. There are plenty of horses out there that are racing at ages older than Funny Cide. The owners are the ones who are screwing up. I think he needs to be spotted better. I also believe that if he is sound then race him. I would race him if I was the owner. There are plenty of races out there for him that have good purses. However, I do not think it would even be all that competitive in some of them. New York breds are getting better and better each year from the top to the bottom. But good luck to Funny Cide--never was a big fan but as long as he is sound then why not race him.

Perhaps he needs a winter break. Turn him out in a nice big pasture and let him be a horse. Perfect Drift seems to come back ok after they turn him out for the winter.

Please Retire Funny Cide!!!!!!!!
"Perhaps he needs a winter break. Turn him out in a nice big pasture and let him be a horse. Perfect Drift seems to come back ok after they turn him out for the winter."
Thank you, that is what I've been thinking for a few years. I know that Funny Cide has been given time off over the years, but I am under the impression that he always remained at the track. I don't know, that is just the impression I always got. Does someone here know if he has been turned out at a farm somewhere for his time off? This might seem trivial to some,,but trust me, as a horseman, it is NOT! Suzanne |
Sorry if I sound out of the loop, but I guess they aren't running him in the Gold Cup this weekend?
|
The Gold Cup isnt this weekend, its next weekend, 10/7.
And no they are not running him. Hes going to have a nice little vacation away from the races. He wont run again this year. |
I would love for them to run him over at Moutaineer for 3000, then I would go snatch him up. He should keep running until he cant run anymore, hes still a crowd draw. Infact, hes still a good horse if he were ever placed in the right spots with the right spacing between runs

I thought he was pointing for the Empire Classic.

I'd hate to see what Gold Cup you'll be watching on the 7th
LOL! Maybe the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont. You'll have to let me know who wins the Hawthorne race. And Funny Cide wont be in either race. |
