As someone who rarely plays tournaments, I'm curious how much money on average do most qualifiers spend during a year in their attempts to qualify?

$25K is ridiculous, but do most people spend $2 or $3K in contest fees to attempt to get in?

congrats and good luck..

That's a difficult question to answer because of the multitude of contest structures and also the weighted entry fees based on the number of seats seeded.
Personally I think the best road is through the Horse Players Qualify - Player's Challenge. Last year there were only 38 finalists, and 26 of them had already qualified so there were 6 NHC seats to be divided between 12 finalists - literally every other person got a seat.

This year they are running it earlier to get more finalists, tripling the prize money, but reducing the seats to 3, which still will be an amazing ratio.

135.00 to enter a qualifier and usually the top 2,3, or 4 win entry to the Player's Challenge (depending on the # of entries, 1 per 50 entrants, capped @ 200 entrants)

Paul Weizer.. Boston-based 'pweizer', involved in every Dee Tee runner. His 7th visit!

Dan Kovalesky.. Chicago's 'dpkovalesky' and I think his first trip to NHC..

Rick Reynolds.. 'Big Blue' from Auburn, AL, in Dee Tee and his first NHC..

Sheldon Usprech.. 'Immanuel Kant'. Canadian invader back for 3rd NHC..

GOOD LUCK GUYS!

That is awesome. Congrats and good luck, gentlemen!

did you post that "long way to go " in a Jim Hannon like way ?

Kasept 01-28-2012 03:40 PM

Very little movement on the Leaderboard really with prices few and far between today..

Paul sitting 36th about $70 off the leaders: http://www.ntra.com/business_develop...%20summary.pdf

It's amazing that there can't be a live leaderboard for people to follow. I'm guessing there is one in the ballroom, but knowing a few people in it, I'd love to see what is happening race by race.

Kasept 01-28-2012 05:38 PM

Latest update: http://www.ntra.com/business_develop...%20summary.pdf

Huge move today from current leader, Dave Flanzbaum.

jwkniska 01-28-2012 05:47 PM

Keep it up everyone! Hope one of you takes it down!

Scav 01-28-2012 06:04 PM

Dave is a very good friend of mine and hoping he holds on, he was all pissy about going and said this was his last year but that will change now
