An allowance race at Gulfstream Park (8f, by 15 3/4, defeating Cherokee Chase, Captain Lindsay, Dearest Mon, Ginger's Fella).

His Derby was empty at best. Definitely stylish when he chose to run. Harldly astounding.

That Wood field yielded a lot of solid horses

Survivalist won close to 500k
Scrappy T 650k
Galloping Grace 330k
Naughty NY'er a MIL
Pavo 300k
Going Wild 500k

thx for making my point

It's funny but you big checks for finishing up the tracks in races with big purses. Bravo

Actually the horses above save survivialist really never raced in HUGE purse races. They were hoard knocking lower level and state bred level race horses. Nothing super talented but in this day and age relatively OK. These were ordinary hard trying stakes horses that made most of there coin in 60 to 150k races.

Of course it is subjective but look at Hot Dixie Chick. Her 2 yr old races were unreal and then what....nothing. Comes into that allowance at CD on Derby day with glue ons and the rest is history as is she....Her talent at 2 was immense. And then it was gone.

I don't get the connection.

Flash in pan.

Talented.

Gone too soon.

Semantics.

Word Play.

Scrappy T had a decent run in some big races (Preakness, Indiana Derby, etc.).

I think the comparison is kind of a reach considering Hot Dixie Chick was a 2 year old. Every year we see 2 year olds that have matured quicker than their counterparts win big and then when the rest catch up, they are brought back to reality.

I don't know if I view Bellamy Road in the same light as some in the thread, but he was freaky good when he was healthy enough to make it to a race.

I take my role as Canard King very seriously....but to be very serious she didn't have to improve as a 3 yr old to beat the snot out of the 3yr old fillies. She went backwards. But she just popped into my head first.

She also was shut down in very early in September of her 2 year old year which to me screams some kind of health issue. I disagree she didn't have to improve. Save Beautician, who stunk this year, she wasn't beating anyone.
