Weak comparison. Calder is a track that is specifically desinged for frequent sudden and hard rains. It's sand. Gonna have to do better than that.

All-Weather track wasn't?

Sounds more like poor drainage control or they are not doing proper maintenance on the plant which I suspect is the case.

It didn't rain that hard to cancel the race card when they had the old dirt tracks in the 90's.

That's a very fair thing to say. But. If what happened to cushion yesterday happened to a dirt track, especially at 70 mins to post, I think the dirt track card would also have been lost.

The biggest story is how weird it is that it rained in California this early in the "rain season."

I was rained on up here in NorCal yesterday.

For those who have never spent much time in California, you can pretty much put it in the bank that it will NOT rain between late April and late October, except for some coastal mist and some Sierra storms.

I give credit for the rain to the former "Governor Moonbeam," who seems poised to become Governor of California again.

To his credit, he dated Linda Rondstadt when she was hot.

And don't forget, we have Bo Derek on our California Horse Racing Board of Directors.
