oak hill was a roller costar for curtis strange

he became the 1st player to win back to back opens since ben hogan there in 1989

then in 1995 he was a pick of lanny wadkins and he just flat out stunk it up
he singles match against faldo was the turning point for the Euros on sunday

Nick finished 4-4-4 and Curtis finsished 5-5-5 to lose 1 down , Faldo hit a career wedge shot on 18 to close to a gimmie after driving it wa left and not being able to go for the green , curtis made bogey from the middle of the fariway , has to be one of his toughest losses ever , usa lost by 1 pt

as for Winged Foot East Kev in my opinion it is a better course than the West course . the east course lets the average player use every club in the bag. the west course is just driver , 3W on every hole for the avg member it too much

Edit: I see you changed the date

yup

faldo got his revenge at oak hills i guess one could say

strange had him all day but couldn't finish him off , that wedge shot on 18 by faldo has to be one of the best of all time in that even

I know this may sound crazy, but I think a lot of people forget how great of a player Faldo was.

i would say he was the best player in the world from '87- till tiger

i know greg norman was the #1 player for a lot of those years but faldo clearly knew who to close in majors better than the shark

we never got to really see faldo and seve go head to head , when faldo got real good seve's back was shot , i don't know who would have won that matchup

but i don't think seve would have folded like a chair against nick the way the shark did in the '90 open and then later at the '96 masters , but, we will never know

Golf is deader than dead. No Tiger, no juice.

Fourball pairings Friday:
Mickelson/D. Johnson v. Westwood/Kaymer
Cink/Kuchar v. McIlroy/McDowell
Woods/Stricker v. Poulter/Fisher
Watson/Overton v. Donald/Harrington

So he sits Furyk in the first matches? Why? The probable Player of the Year coming off the shot of his life?

Love the pairings, but I think the Euros will be up 2.5-1.5 after the morning.

I have a rule that I don't take money from guys over 50. Happy belated, by the way.

Haven't you read my posts here and the replies to them? That's the underlying brilliance of the Ryder Cup I've been told. The incredible strategy this shows and the fun we get to have watching a great player like Furyk who just won 10 million I heard watch other players hit golf shots. That's why this event is so great. We get to watch match play wizard Ricky Fowler watch golf shots too. Perhaps Furyk and Fowler can play bingo with the Molinari brothers in the morning or have a putting contest on the practice green. That would be awesome theatre.

When you hear comments like, "I don't think I have ever seen this much standing water on a course and have them still playing" and "It's hard to believe they are still playing out there", you are sure to get some fine competition.

Early in the round, Euros are better mudders, as you would expect.

Great comeback by the US after the rain delay. Done til tomorrow.

horseofcourse 10-01-2010 07:08 PM

Is the rain making this event better? Did I actually read all 24 golfers are playing the next two events on Saturday and they're shortening it to 3 instead of 4 thereby forcing this and making all 24 play the foursomes and four ball on Saturday? I can actually get into that.

Rain is awesome!! (listen to what the rain is telling you, listen to what the rain is telling you! Play all the golfers....see who really has the best team. )

Honestly- if the "all play" format goes well, I could see them switching going forward to everyone plays all matches. More players = more ticket sales (which are limited Fri/Sat due to only 4 groups on course) = more money. And your point will be proven right.

USA up 2 1/2 to 1 1/2 after 1st day fourballs. Amazing. Watson/Overton destroyed Harrington/Donald. Mickelson/D Johnson got destroyed by Kaymer/Westwood. Cink/Kuchar halved after McIlroy saved Europe...they could have easily won. Stricker carried the carcass of Tiger Woods around for 8 holes and all by himself beat Poulter/Fisher. I will actually enjoy today with all 24 golfers on the course! Of the 8 golfers who played, Jeff Overton was the best one.

Overton has been unbeleivable! Kucher, Johnson, and Woods not so much. The great think about match play is things can change fast.

Coach Pants 10-02-2010 09:18 AM

Tired of hearing about Dustin Johnson. He's done nothing but choke when it really matters. I know that the media wants to bone him but for f.ucks sake stop acting like he's the second coming of Nicklaus.

Coach Pants 10-03-2010 10:55 AM

It's her fault.
