Oh CatGirl..do your cuff thing and arrest the little brat.

Princess Doreen 08-26-2010 09:33 PM

... and are you the type who yells at the jocks and calls all the horses by their numbers only or are you the quiet type (well what didja think I was talking about in the heading you pervs? )?

I'm pretty quiet until I see my horse/horses on the front end the final quarter.

At the track, do you always hang out in the same area? Do you stay in one place or go to the paddock and the finish line, anywhere and everywhere?

Pretty much all over the place but spend the most amount of time in our seats.

Do you drink? Drink too much? Eat? Get there early for workouts and stay all day? Leave after the big race?

We bring our own food and drink. We arrive about a half hour before the
1st race and leave after the BIG race.

Do you cap the night before or when you're there?

Sometimes night before; usually morning of but have changed our minds when we get to the track

Do you have superstitions... a good luck charm of any kind?

I don't bring too much money.

Are you the type who smacks the form during the races and who barks out orders to the jocks?

No, but I did tell Calvin not to let anyone push him around in The Woodward last year.

Do you bring your kids, your significant other or go with friends? Alone?

Go with my husband. It took years of cultivating, but he's now a really big fan and a pretty good handicapper

How much does it annoy you when you're in line and the race is about to go off and the person in front of you has no clue what they're doing? Do you feel like you're going to have a heart attack, going to kill them, or both?

Yes , yes, yes, and yes

When you make a great hit do you announce it to the people around you? Do you congratulate strangers if they're nearby and you know they nailed whatever race?

Only if they ask, and I never hesitate to congratulate anyone

Are you helpful to new-to-the-sport types or do you wish they would go the fuc* home?

I can deal with ignorance but not stupidity

Do you tip the tellers?

If I hit a good win and they sold me the ticket, I'll share a bit with them.

Do you get dressed up at all? Go to the turf club? Hang with the lowlifes? Have a table at a restaurant for the day kinda thing?

Pretty much get dressed up - love to wear hats. We reserve seats. We stop by Carolina Barbecue and chat with Steve a bit, we'll do a 7th race stretch, and visit the paddock when there's a horse/horses that we want ro see up close and in person.

Tell me what it's like when you go to the track and which track you usually go to!

It's heaven in Saratoga.

It's time for you to

As Barry Sanders always said, "Act like you've been there before."

DaTruth 08-26-2010 10:28 PM

... and are you the type who yells at the jocks and calls all the horses by their numbers only or are you the quiet type (well what didja think I was talking about in the heading you pervs? :p )?

Yell at the jocks.

At the track, do you always hang out in the same area? Do you stay in one place or go to the paddock and the finish line, anywhere and everywhere?

I will sit in my box when I first get there and talk to the folks who sit around me. After that, I'm walking back and forth from the paddock to the finish line with trips to the machines in between.

Do you drink? Drink too much? Eat? Get there early for workouts and stay all day? Leave after the big race?

I never drink at the track. I'll have a corned beef po-boy or maybe some gubmo or maybe some red beans and rice. I usually arrive mid-card and will stay to watch the last race.

Do you cap the night before or when you're there?

Cap the night before.

Do you have superstitions... a good luck charm of any kind?

Nope.

Are you the type who smacks the form during the races and who barks out orders to the jocks?

Smacking the form and yelling at the jockeys, which embarrasses my kids and amuses my nieces and nephews.

Do you bring your kids, your significant other or go with friends? Alone?

I'll bring my kids and wife if they want to go. Usually some of my brothers and their wives and kids will be out there. Of course my mom will also be there.

How much does it annoy you when you're in line and the race is about to go off and the person in front of you has no clue what they're doing? Do you feel like you're going to have a heart attack, going to kill them, or both?

I figure if I get shutout, then it wasn't meant to be.

When you make a great hit do you announce it to the people around you? Do you congratulate strangers if they're nearby and you know they nailed whatever race?

It depends on which track and the company around me.

Are you helpful to new-to-the-sport types or do you wish they would go the fuc* home?

Helpful to the point that they wish I would shut up.

Do you tip the tellers?

Sometimes, but I hate it when they expect a tip when I'm cashing out a voucher.

Do you get dressed up at all? Go to the turf club? Hang with the lowlifes? Have a table at a restaurant for the day kinda thing?

Jeans at the track for me. FG has a relaxed dress code for clubhouse, basically your shirt should have at least one button. The lowlifes bring color to the sport.

Tell me what it's like when you go to the track and which track you usually go to!

I am truly happy when I am at the track. I'm 41 now and have been going to the track and betting regularly since I was 13 or 14, and I've never grown tired of this great game. I go to Fair Grounds about 15 times per meet, Louisiana Downs at least once per meet, and Oaklawn at least once every other meet. My outings to the track definitely decreased once Louisiana first permitted account wagering in 2000.

it is bad luck to take the change so even if I only make $1.50 I give them the 50 cents.

I dont score big enough to ever give a nice tip though, but yeah.

And no, I dont scream when I come, just breathe hard and shake a little.

and are you the type who yells at the jocks and calls all the horses by their numbers only or are you the quiet type (well what didja think I was talking about in the heading you pervs? :p )?

:o

At the track, do you always hang out in the same area? Do you stay in one place or go to the paddock and the finish line, anywhere and everywhere?
Depends on who I'm with. If I'm solo, in one place. If I'm with the boys, it's anything to keep them happy/quiet

Do you drink? Drink too much? Eat? Get there early for workouts and stay all day? Leave after the big race?
Never drink, will eat if hungry and have some time.

Do you cap the night before or when you're there?
Usually the bulk is done the night before, unless weather is going to be an issue.

Do you have superstitions... a good luck charm of any kind?
No nothing really, maybe if I get hot I will hit the same urinal (even if I have to go #2 :o)

Are you the type who smacks the form during the races and who barks out orders to the jocks?
No smacking the form, but I will get into it in the stretch. Something like "c'mon with that 4 or "Keep him movin Ramon", but nothing over the top

Do you bring your kids, your significant other or go with friends? Alone?
It varies. Most of the time I bring at least one of the boys, but honestly as much as I love them I enjoy it more going to the track alone. Just easier to concentrate and most of the time it's very relaxing.

How much does it annoy you when you're in line and the race is about to go off and the person in front of you has no clue what they're doing? Do you feel like you're going to have a heart attack, going to kill them, or both?
I really try to stay out of situations like that. It's much easier now in Jersey for me, because I could use my account. But it used to drive me crazy.

When you make a great hit do you announce it to the people around you? Do you congratulate strangers if they're nearby and you know they nailed whatever race?
No, very rarely do I talk to other people at the track (because so many of them are douches, I don't want to be bothered). I will discuss something that happens in the race or ask/give an opinion on who won a photo. But that's pretty much the extent of it.

Are you helpful to new-to-the-sport types or do you wish they would go the fuc* home?
If someone needs genuine help, I would try to help them.

Do you tip the tellers?
Usually the change if it's a regular ticket. But if I hit in my account, you cash out on a voucher, so then no.

Do you get dressed up at all? Go to the turf club? Hang with the lowlifes? Have a table at a restaurant for the day kinda thing?
Dress very comfortable, casual. Between the grime of the track and the print on the form, it could get a little messy. Not to mention if it's steamy out and you are sweating like a pig. No tables, but sometimes will sit in the tele-theater and go out to the main track for the live races.

Tell me what it's like when you go to the track and which track you usually go to!
The majority of the time it's Monmouth. I love going to Saratoga and try to get up there whenever I can. The last couple of years I have made the out to opening day of the spring meet at Belmont.

Good Thread G, enjoyed reading other peoples routines.

.

That is another quirk of mine at the track -- even though it is cheaper (and cleaner) to print the pps at home, if I'm at the track I want The Form. (Unless I'm at Colonial because you can't get The Form anywhere in VA) I enjoy the articles (even DRF weekend which doesn't seem popular among many) and I collect the issues for marquee days like the Derby or if I bought it at a track that I went to for the first time.

Rarely go to the track, mostly OTB.

Do you drink? Drink too much? Eat? Get there early for workouts and stay all day? Leave after the big race?
If I'm up on the day, I will splurge on a plate of cheese fries:D

Do you cap the night before or when you're there?
Both

Do you have superstitions... a good luck charm of any kind?
All pick 3 and pick 4 plays must be written down on a piece of paper, then I go punch the ticket in the machine. The written ticket MUST stay on top of the machine ticket at all times. Never use the bathroom 5 minutes or less before post.

Are you the type who smacks the form during the races and who barks out orders to the jocks?
I don't smack the form but I do snap my fingers like crazy during the stretch run if my horse has a shot.
Do you bring your kids, your significant other or go with friends? Alone?
ALONE!!!

How much does it annoy you when you're in line and the race is about to go off and the person in front of you has no clue what they're doing? Do you feel like you're going to have a heart attack, going to kill them, or both?
Never real crowded, except big days.

When you make a great hit do you announce it to the people around you? Do you congratulate strangers if they're nearby and you know they nailed whatever race?
Always depends on who is as the OTB. If I hit a signer and people hear about it, the dregs will be on my like flies on sh*t to sign it. I always sign my own.

Are you helpful to new-to-the-sport types or do you wish they would go the fuc* home?
Helpful, but only if they ask.
Do you tip the tellers?
Rarely use tellers. But if I hit and use them, I will. I was having a miserable ass day a few years ago. I had $9 bucks left on a voucher and told this teller to give me 3 across on any number horse she wanted. I never looked at the ticket til after the race was over. The horse won and it was a bomb. Winning ticket was worth $125. I gave her $25 and promptly left. I was at Colonial a couple years ago with EPBurns from the board here and hit a pick 3 for $800 and change. I gave the teller that punched the ticket $50. It helped that she was cute as hell and ended up going out with me a couple times.
