It is Wide open now.

LAL your new fave. Maybe as low as 3-1 with Baffert in tow.

Arletta 04-25-2010 09:38 AM

What a yucky derby this is lookin' to be. I'm playing #'s, to hell with it.

The other Baffert is really flying below the radar isnt he?

Good point, pace scenario just seems against him.

Thanks Steve.

Do we still have a sloppy track for today? Turf?

Fast main track. Good turf.

jpops757 04-25-2010 10:03 AM

Dosnt this make it more likely that more than 1 filly going to the derby? Or does it make sense for the top 3 to cross enter and wait for the draw and then coose the best shot. After all they have invested isnt the extra money a good hedge for them

Slewbopper 04-25-2010 10:03 AM

There are 20 numbers on a dart board. Put on a blindfold and toss one

pmacdaddy 04-25-2010 10:05 AM

That sucks.

Did TP give any indication in press conference on status of Interactif, Discreetly Mine or DMC?

He confirmed that they are all still too slow.

From the remaining 20 horses, who isn't too slow?

As mentioned before, Endorsement's work pushed back.

Is this a lesser known trainer being overly cautious because of the off track?
Doesn't want to have a mishap and not have a Derby starter?

There is some fairly wide speculation of a problem here. By the time of the Derby-Oaks worker window after the harrow break, there was no 'off track'. It was fine. Ritter walked him briefly and then put him away. And WinStar's Bill Casner was totally evasive when asked about the horse. Let's wait it out, but it doesn't seem likely things are 100%.

Derby is pretty sorry this year.

Betsy 04-25-2010 10:43 AM

Sorry to hear that, but running the filly is just stupid; she has no chance (and I like her a lot).

Only that the Eskendereya situation made Devil May Care a bit more likely to go Derby. He said he wanted to talk to Mr. Greathouse before saying anything too committal.

Of Interactif, he only said he wasn't crazy about the track for him for a serious work and would wait. If Discreetly Mine came up, I missed it.
