What is one more no-chance speedball in this field, except another good candidate for the "finish last" prop bet?

The horse some people may have worried about is Setsuko, but he ain't making it, not in the current insane atmosphere.

You would be incorrect.

That psychopath at a track with 150k people screaming and yelling in a 20 horse field where you run in front of the grandstand for the opening quarter is enough to make a trainer with the coolest nerves a tad uneasy.

You are all assuming 85/50 is winning on Saturday. I think thats a longshot.

Nobody is assuming that whatsoever. In fact, the opposite was made clear.

But, we do know that the favorite winning is not a " longshot " whether we like the horse or not.

OK, YOU may be on to something. But the collective fear of this horse stealing the Derby is somewhere around 0.0.

I don't think this horse wants a mile. Therefore I wouldn't worry about him even making the field at this point. I think todd thinks this filly has a shot which is why she is being considered, not to cock block someone else.

Devil May Care entering would keep Homeboykris out of the race, so there's at least that.

Now that would be funny.

On what looks like the projected pace scenario, hell yes.

slotdirt 04-20-2010 12:13 PM

Eh, if you were thinking of betting Setsuko, spend your money on Ice Box. Same idea.

If he was the horse kept out by the move, then I'd be fine with it "karmically" or whatever--although it is most certainly not the best move for this filly.

People have lost their minds this year.

You get better prices on both if they are both in the race. And I prefer one over the other.

Low to mid 20's likely on Ice Box

I can only infer this to mean that YOU seem to think I consider Eightyfiveinafifty a threat in the KY Derby.

You be also be incorrect about that.

A threat to jump into the stands maybe and really get the derby into the headlines.

10-15...IMO

slotdirt 04-20-2010 12:45 PM

If Ice Box is 10-1, based on previous Derbies, he'll be like fourth or fifth favorite. I just can't see it. I think 20-1 sounds more realistic.

Offshore available around 25-1 or higher.

Merlinsky 04-20-2010 06:10 PM

If John Velazquez's on Eskendereya, who would get the mount? I'm trying to think of who else Pletcher uses that isn't already on a horse.
