Those of you who will there on Saturday, bundle up and give Lloydobler a kiss from us when you're standing in the winner's circle.:)

He certainly is a sweet clown.

I only got to see him twice in Saratoga (had to wait for him to ship in). But I got to visit him everyday on my earlier visit to Louisville (when we were calling him Harold Carmichael). He was playful when I would pet him, eventually trying to nip me. He would also place his chin (if that is the correct horse anatomy term) on my shoulder and try to push me down. I would resist and we would have our little strength competition.

I will also miss the race on the 9th. Safe travels to all, especially Harold... I mean, Lloydobler.

It will all depend on how many they get for which race... That's how racing offices massage various races in the Condition Book and on the Overnights and mold them into raceday cards.

Is the MSW an option or is Gary looking for a maiden claiming for the debut?

I hope this picture comes out. It was taken at TOGA soon after he first arrived. I call it "the horse of many colors". I told Paul that he looked like a graduate from clown college. Paul said he wanted to be sure I could pick him out as he traveled around the Oklahoma Track that day.

The MDN $35k is the race we'll enter (tomorrow). Gary thinks they will use it over the MDN $50-60k.

I wonder why they can't enter all races they are elligible for.

if they don't fill one of the races they are already entered in one they do and if they use 2 of the races, scratch out of 1 of them.

Do you have to pay for every used race you enter?

Not at all.. You enter the race you want but in a case like this the racing office will ask you if you'd go in the other(s) if necessary. The office will call trainers and let them know that one race isn't going but there is room in the other if you want. Or they'll hustle you to go into the other race...

The picture turned out great.

I first visited him during a torential rain storm. I had to jump into a patch of deep mud to avoid a skittish horse (and then walk around Saratoga for the rest of the day in my muddy, damp shoes). :( I think Dave Blaha (Heels1989) took some pictures.

I snuck back for a visit after the races on my last day there. Lloydobler (Harold) was always friendly and playful.

Here's another pic of LD - probably my favorite.

I am so concerned about all those people and horses that have to function in this exceptionally cold weather. It's single digits here in SE Virginia. I can only imagine how bad it is at the Big A.

Do well, LD. Come home safe and sound.

Thanks, Heels. Great pictures. LD is definitely a personality kid. We were there on the 29th, as well... probably just missed each other.

No go for Saturday... Race DID NOT fill... Has been brought back for Sunday 1/10 though, so we'll try again tomorrow.

Whew, this Saturday was the one day that Pat and I could not make it due to our niece's first birthday. If it goes Sunday, we will be there! I hope it fills! :D

pmacdaddy 01-06-2010 01:30 PM

Been wrangling with a family conflict for Saturday, so I'm selfishly relieved to hear...

I'm a definite for Sunday or any day next week. Go Lloyd!

Too funny... If he won, I think I would have killed a clown.

bigdog_14086 01-06-2010 01:32 PM

Either day would have worked for us, Sunday was probably the better day. Hope the race fills and we can see Lloyd's first race and meet some of the DT group.
