First of all, he lost by a head or so in the Belmont....12 furlongs

He earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 119 in the Pacific Classic at 10 furlongs. He broke the Del Mar track record that day, and was still beaten some 2 lengths by Candy Ride, who earned a 124. Does the fact that he was beaten that day mean that he can't get 1-1/4?

Medaglia d'Oro was beaten a length by Pleasantly Perfect in the 10f Dubai World Cup. He was some 5 lengths in front of the third place horse.

Yeah, he couldn't get 10 furlongs.

and narrowly lost the 12f belmont, but yeah-he can't handle shorter.

What's the deadline for getting into The Classic this year? Has that passed already? If her connections changed their minds, would they still be able to get her into the race... or any BC race this year?

Just curious.

If she hasnt been in full training since Sep 6th or whatever.. her deadline for making this race has passed.

plus he said he wouldn't run on synthetic, don't think the BC was ever really considered once they bought her

I bet he'd also say that Easy Goer couldn't really get 10f because he was only 3-5 at the distance.

very true, but I think the poster was asking "what if they decided to change their mind about plastic".. kinda like Curlin last year.

If she's missed a month of full training, there is no way they put Rachel in a big race like the Classic unless she's 100% fit.

Here's a little eye-opener for those who have a short memory:

http://community.drf.com/files/medaglia-doro.pdf

Horses that "can't get 10 furlongs" don't put up numbers like this against the level of competition displayed here.

The W's vs the L's in most cases are pretty defining once the sample gets large enough to be meaningful, but in the case of this particular horse, they are really quite misleading.

Just my opinion.

Very misleading. I've said that for years. He could face the Macho Again's and Bullsbay's of the world and be 6-6 at the distance, earning 107 Beyer figures and he's a legit 10f runner. Or he can run 118's and lose a few times to Candy Ride and Pleasantly Perfect and break track records and all of a sudden, he can't get the distance. Looking at the w-l record doesn't begin to tell the story.
