if i was chip , i would never even bother with borel again.

if Kent D rides him in the belmont and calvin rides Summer Bird in the belmont - then who wins? Kent D had to eat crow for a long time for his ride on real quiet , he made Calvin look like a 3rd rate jock who had spent too much time on 42nd st all week instead of at Belmont Park
I guess Calvin didn't get the memo that the belmont is 1 1/2, not 1 1/4 - those NY nights last a lot longer than those night in Cajun country, in fact NY nights never end:D :D

It was more the Jackie Davis thing.

if you believe waht chip said after the race , we wanted to let him make 1 big run , we were too close in the sunland , why couldn't the kid from New Mexico not take the horse back and rate , and even if he moved a little later than Borel , he would have won that day with Cajungator on him , as long as the jock didn't fall off that day MTB was a winner , he loved thar peanut butter surface they ran on , the others obviously didn't

no way, no how gales... you couldnt pay me enough to convince me of this... The kid from New Mexico had BLOWN the last two rides b4 the derby, or maybe he would have had the mount. NO WAY does the kid make the rail move that ONLY boRAIL does.. no way does he bring back MTB like 10 lenghts behind the 19th place horse for the first 6 furlongs.

I'll tell ya what would have happened... MTB would have got in a lot of trouble and finished 6th with making a promising run... if not last because of a premature run on the backside... MTB would have skipped the Preakness (Pioneer of the crappy running would have been the Derby winner).... MTB would have come back in the Belmont with a different jockey (and not borail).. and won at like 50-1 odds.

this I will agree with you on. Not Adam Lambert. Lambert may not have even been able to deal with the pressure of winning a derby or even riding in a derby. Horse would have found trouble and lost.. Calvin was the only guy who would have done what was done IMO... take the horse back like 20 lenghts and make a huge run on the rail.

no one will ever no for sure , maybe i sould call the show and ask steve his opinion , but to me 7 lengths is 7 lengths ---- i mean come on don't you realize Casey could have stopped off for a beer and still have won the race?

you do know that was an accident ,chip wanted to be back , but, not that far back , when he banged the two horses coming out of the gate , calvin just decided to take him way back and out of trouble , how do we know casey wouldn't have made a somewhat similar move?

he wan't losing on that peanut butter surface that day

If you get through, ask him if he thinks they will be on the turf tomorrow at Belmont.

steve , you like anything at WO tomorrow?

letswastemoney 06-30-2009 05:57 PM

A jock could equal 7 lengths....or rather a horse's running style could equal 7 lengths. Take War Emblem for example. Great horse if sent to the lead early. Not so much if he even sniffs a horse in front of him in the early going.

If a jock knows and caters to how a horse likes to run, that could equal 7 length or more even. Lambert probably would have made the same premature moves he made in the Sunland Derby.

no question , but, when i watched the race the 1st time , it looked to me that he had a ton more in the tank and if the race kept going another 1/4 of a mile he would have won by more

maybe the mud moved him up as well that day? did he ever run on as muddy a track in any of his other races?

I don't think he ran on mud before the Derby. Just synthetics and the dirt at Sunland.

so while the ride was great , the mud could have also moved him up big time no?

Sorta off topic but I learned one thing between The Derby and The Belmont -

pay closer attention to breeding, especially The Belmont given the distance.
