yeah, they are. which is why i didn't really warm to this horse. you can't trust that a horse being trained by one of these guys is all natural. how do you celebrate a top effort, when you're not so sure it's all above board? some might be able to, but i can't. it's why i got so disgusted after last years derby, and why i never cheered for curlin.

This is very funny in a sick way, is there a better poster child then Mullins for all that is wrong in racing, from this idiotic episode to the bettors are idiots comment (which many people on the backstretch believe IMO).

I never understood why Mullins shipped his horse to AQU. WHen was the last time Mullins shipped a horse other than to Turf Paradise??

He took one to Royal Ascot one year.

Didn't fare well, but him in a top hat was awesome.

Finish Line brand Air Power:

For attempting to break the rules he should get a long suspension. While people's call for blood for fairly innocuous substances in minute levels found in post race tests are often misguided, intentionally attempting to break the rules should be dealt with harshly. Regardless of how useless the substance in question is. And Air Power is pretty useless in the grand scheme. The guy is a bad guy and he deserves whatever he gets. And his owners better realize that they are part of the problem too. This guy should get a 5 year suspension. Or worse.

chucklestheclown 04-05-2009 07:45 PM

Air power is not allowed?

Security barns cant stop the mullet
haircut. Sampson-like qualities.
The effect on the frontal lobe
may contraindicate the use of
the mullet.

The pure bravado displayed
sneaking a syringe in... good lord.

Wonder if criminal charges can be filed? The intent was there but the crime never occured, at least on this occasion.

Nothing is allowed in the detention barn. That is the whole purpose of the damn thing. Mullins needs to be made an example out of. He blatantly broke the rules, caught red handed. Regardless of what he was giving the horse, he needs to be dealt with severely. If the sport and NY in particular is serious about policing the sport, Mullins and the frequent violators crew needs to be slammed. This isnt the 3rd race at Turf Paradise. This is the trainer of possibly the Derby favorite blatantly violating the rules before that favorite runs in his final prep. What are the odds that IWR was going to also be illegally treated? 1-9? The Air Power is immaterial.

chucklestheclown 04-05-2009 07:52 PM

Obviously his watch was still on pacific time.

justindew 04-05-2009 07:55 PM

I think reaction to this is overly harsh, as the NTRA will undoubtedly dispatch a Blue Ribbon panel to investigate and give a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

I think this should be the last post on the subject until the NTRA has had a chance to weigh in.
