What's also interesting about her is she is from modest breeding when you compare her to some of the other blueblooded horses that raced today. Her sire Zamindar was only a group 3 winner at 6f during his career, though he is a full brother Zafonic and she was out of an unraced dam that was a half to only a Group 3 winner. She's certainly outrun her pedigree which in these days with basically only 2 entities that are dominating spending in yearling sales, she is a pleasant change as she is a homebred from The Aga Khan.

Youmzain second again, not given much of a chance, even after he was second last year. Horse don't get no respect.

He's won one race in his last 11 tries.

From the Is Anybody Shocked By This? department......

Aga Khan, "The filly won't run again this season and we don't know for the moment whether she will stay in training next year."

Let's hope we get to see her run again next year.

Let's hope we get to see her run again next year.

We can only hope, but really, what else is there left for her to prove? She is a freak of nature and obviously worth who knows how much $$ right now..(Not that he would ever sell her...never know tho) Be too risky for her to run and get beat and put a damper on her stardom as it is today.
I say we have seen her last race.

Danzig 10-06-2008 07:02 AM

i'd like to see her run at least double digit starts. seven starts. i'd think she still has a lot to prove.

I guess if they really wanted to push her, they could bring her to the States for the Breeders Cup. I believe their answer when asked if she would run was "Hell No".

Danzig 10-06-2008 07:15 AM

i can see why they wouldn't bring her here. i just don't see why she won't ever run again.

I agree. She really doesn't have to prove anything by running in the U.S. But I'd like to see her stay in training for next year. Females usually do only because they just aren't worth as much as the boys in the 'post racing' career. I hope she follows in the footsteps of a mare like Quija Board and continues racing.

She is a female that can produce 1 offspring/year. She's not worth a fraction of what an undefeated Arc winning 3 yr old colt would be.

I am assuming, since the Aga Khan has a breeding operation and a lot of money, that she will stay home. If he just adds her to his broodmare string, what is she really worth. It's all about what her babies do and at one per year, the odds are greatly stacked against her.

Make no mistake about it, they can do whatever they want with her, but it would be nice to see her run again. I don't think any losses, at this point, will greatly reduce her value. She will always be the Arc winner....
