I don't know Brock... he's such a good one and I wish you the best of luck and hope they all come home safe damnit. Bad memories with Singapore races for me and trying to get past that.

My pick to win is The Hornet. I just think that he will no matter how good your guy Presvis is.

Sentimental boy here is Pompeii Ruler who I know won't win but whatever. :)

If I were playing though? Yeah, The Hornet with Top Spin hitting the board...

Much more excited about the KrisFlyer.

Sentimental choices are the HK runners Sacred Kingdom and Inspiration (win it for Absolute Champion :( ). I'm a fan of most of these horses but i think if I were playing it I'd look beyond sentiment and the obvious (the brilliant Rocket Man) and go for one of the other very good locals.... I'm thinking Waikato or Capablanca, or maybe even Onceuponatime. All 3 should be at nice odds. Think I'll be happy no matter who wins this. :)

Lovely race... I said I'd never watch it again but i think I will after all.

Good luck to anyone playing.

(... and good luck to Ace Armada in R7). :tro:

The sprint is tricky little race. Im usually alright at coming to an opinion of local horses in these type of races, but Rocket Man has me struggling. He seems a classy horse but Im not too certain on that.At the price 2-1, Ill pass. Takeover apparantly wasnt eating right so ill pass on him at 2-1. I backed Sacred Kingdom who was a big price at 7-1 and Ill probably end up having a saver on Diabolical as well.

And if I win anything, It'll all go on my boy in the next race!!

brockguy 05-17-2009 08:37 AM

I think Jay Peg broke down in the straight, I hope he is OK, it was his last race..

my miss storm cat 05-17-2009 09:01 AM

Oh God not another sad ending...

Hope he;s okay.

On a happy note... HONG KONG RAIDERS! :tro:

Sacred Kingdom wins! :)

He's okay if what I'm hearing is correct.

Happy retirement, Jay Peg. :)

I have one question

Will anyone ever figure out that Gloria de Campeo is good? Those odds were crazy, of course I have xpressbet and cant bet Singapore.

Respectfully, I would assume most of us know that he's good. I didn't think he'd do it here though...

Cheers to you if you'd have had him. :)

He sure as hell lived up to his name (Portuguese for Glorious Champion).

Forgot to say sorry to you, Brock ( but your boy ran well).

Wonder if Jaripeo had the winner here.....

How beautiful is this?

Gracious Prebble honours Absolute Champion after sprint success

Murray Bell

Brett Prebble dedicated his win on world champion Sacred Kingdom to the previous holder of the global title, Absolute Champion, who was humanely destroyed after breaking down in the same race a year ago.
Prebble was filled with emotion and it went way beyond the euphoria of victory. Apart from the warm memories of Absolute Champion, the 2006 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint hero, he had just won the KrisFlyer Sprint in front of his old boss, Singapore-based trainer John Meagher.

"It's been a tremendously emotional experience for me," Prebble said. "Twelve months ago, this was one of the worst days of my life. Being on Absolute Champion and having him break down in the early stages of this race was just a terrible experience. Absolute Champion was a great sprinter and had tremendous character. I'm dedicating this race to his memory."

Prebble paid a warm tribute to Meagher, the Melbourne Cup-winning trainer who has called Singapore home for the past decade.

"He taught me everything as an apprentice and nothing that I've achieved would have been possible without John and his wife, Ann," Prebble said. "They've been like second parents to me and to win a big race in front of them in Singapore makes it very special."
