i wonder what the underbidder wound up spending his money on.

justindew 02-12-2008 05:14 PM

I hope he becomes the greatest sire in history.

I can't imagine with the obsurd glut of proven stallions already available, that he'd see even one decent mare. He'll most likey turn out to be a serviceable 5K stud somewhere in Florida

I wouldn't breed my Jack Russell to him if they gave me the season.

you're saying you can't park a cadillac in a closet, right?

because i once saw this show in tijuana...

nevermind.

if you mentioned the possibility to your dog, i'd let her know it's off. she'll be relieved.

I thought she was pissed at me because her dinner was late.

I just feel bad for the horse that he has such foolish owners. Remember Slew's value price?

Maybe a descent sire would be good enough.....

Danzig 02-13-2008 06:52 PM

it's a a good thing they announced he was officially retired...otherwise, we'd have never known the difference between his 'career' and retirement.

I don't think its the horse's fault that 2 rather large egos got into a bidding war and 16million will always be associated with this horse.

Thunder Gulch 02-13-2008 10:00 PM

I just can't wait to see a string of future claimers with "Monkey" in their name. Submit your favorite names with suggested mares.

I'll go first: Sumwonlovesmymonkey

So true. And it's not like Pletcher ever touted this horse to be something special. he knew he was in trouble with him at Saratoga as a 2yo when he couldn't find any horses in his barn that the green monkey could keep up with.

The Green Monkey has few worries, he's going to get some...

Pedigree Ann 02-15-2008 03:32 AM

They ought to get the Quarter Horse people interested. Some of the greatest QH sires in history were very fast but distance limited TBs, from Three Bars forward. And they breed via AI, so he wouldn't have to leave Florida.

pgiaco 02-15-2008 08:14 AM

Other than the 2 year old in training sale, when was he fast?

Exactly right. Was under a shove early on in his races and couldnt make the lead in moderate fractions. Anyway, i would have to say he is going to end up living a pretty good life for a horse who never accomplished anything other than a fast 1/8th in a training sale. Lucky Monkey!
