The game has changed so much from those days so it's hard to compare the offense and defensive sets between the two eras.

things have changed so much, you really can't compare. namath was a big game qb. bradshaw was as tough as they come and a bomber. snake stabler and roger staubach were very consistant and NO one ran a 2 minute drill better.

in the 70's the steelers and raiders DB changed the game. they were big and strong DBs. they are why the rules changed and DBs only have 5 yds to touch WRs. the biggest rule change came when the OL were allowed to open and us thier hands. thats when the eras changed.
can you guys old enough to remember, imagine, johnny u's colts, namath's jets, starr's packers, thier OL's using thier hands?
what could brashaw and the steelers running game have done? for that fact, staubach and dorsett? stabler and company.

marino had NO running and his OL was terrible at run blocking.
montana's completion percentage should be high, dink and dunk is what the was coast offense was. you have already forgot jim kelly in the run-and -shoot offense.

manning's the best of his time but not the best of all time.

manning's the best of his time but not the best of all time.

between the two, i'd take brady over manning. i don't like mannings theatrics behind the line on practically every play, while brady seems calm, cool, collected and poised.

matter of fact, i have manning in my FFL. willing to entertain a trade, as even tho he earned me mucho points last night, he wracks my nerves, and i'd rather have a QB i can cheer for while they play.

So many good QB's it's hard to pin down.....I find it surprising no one mentions a guy named Elway. I know it's the times, but I think one thing that has helped Manning more than we'll ever know, is playing indoors on turf. He's a talented top shelf QB but I don't think he's anyway near being in danger of being called best ever.......yet. In fact, I don't know if I would take him first in a QB draft among active QB's right now.

Oh and if I had to pick a best of all time......hands down Montana.

This is pretty funny considering you didn't even make it to tee up with them. LOL :D

I agree on Montana being over rated. Noone will ever be able to convince me that he wasnt trying to throw the ball away when Parks caught the winning td pass against the cowboys. Of course I am a biased Cowboy fan. My opinion on QBs start with Merideth. No qb ever did so much with so little. Dandy Don played the game and enjoyed it and quit when it wasnt fun anymore. Of course I am biased but he was also the best High School basketball player I ever saw.

Manning is big, strong, smart, can make any pass, has touch, quick release, and rarely makes mistakes. I am a lifetime Dolphin fan but Manning is the best I have ever seen, including Montana.

I am coming to get you!

Otto Graham is the best ever. Played in a championship game every single year as a professional. In the AAFC before the Browns joined the NFL and every single year in the NFL. In his 6 NFL seasons the Browns played in 6 championship games and he won 3 of them. No one can touch Graham who has ever played the game.

King Glorious 09-12-2007 12:13 PM

I agree that Manning is the best ever. These other guys u are all speaking of, I've never heard of them. Who is Montana, Elway, Marino, Favre, Unitas, Bradshaw? I looked them up in the record books and they don't exist.

Edit-I just looked in another record book. Manning is not the best ever anymore. I see those other names now.
