Just saw a great commercial during the Brit Open...Lexus showing a young Bobby Jones, Sam Snead and I think young Gene Sarazin all loading up their clubs to play together at the club!

Great stuff!

Would like to see Weir,WWood,or Harrington win this, but Choi is the most confident.Hate to take him, because he has already won twice this year.I'll take him,and hope I am wrong.

wiphan 07-20-2007 02:48 PM

I take Steve Stricker at 125-1. He has been playing well. After watching Sergio play just a few holes today he still has zero confidence and will not win this championship

Nice crystal ball wiphan. 64 today...wow.

Samarta 07-21-2007 02:01 PM

Sergio looked pretty damn good today.....was a textbook round....anxious to see what he does tomorrow....

pgardn 07-21-2007 04:10 PM

Sergio has had the lead 9 times after 54 holes and won 5 of them in his career. Yet he is known as a choke. I dont think that record is that bad at all. Maybe he had huge leads on the last day... have to look that up.

Now that same statistic is UnGodly for Woods. But Garcia aint Woods.

GPK 07-21-2007 04:30 PM

I appreciate great golf...and I give the kid props...he has played BRILLIANTLY thus far. His round today was tons better than I ever imagined it would be. Will be interested to see how he fairs tomorrow. I have been hard on him in the past, as he has shown no heart when it matters in the majors. He has a chance to put to rest some serious doubt about his game under pressure. In all honesty...I hope he plays his ass off and wins by 5 or more.

All I can tell ya is we watch a lot of golf, and(with his talent...tee to green) he should have won 3 times as many tournaments than he has. With Tiger not being up there pressuring him,he will probably win it,but I wouldn't count on him to do anything.Won't surprise me if he is +3 the 1st 3 or 4 holes.A lot of it depends on whether somebody can get to 2 shots within him by the time he tees off.

Kev, do you think somewhere in the back of a lot of player's minds they may be thinking if he goes out tomorrow and shoots 2 or 3 under and wins by 6, it may stir up that sleeping giant....

wiphan 07-21-2007 07:20 PM

Stricker played real well today and made me look good. He has come a long way back. As a Wisconsin native I am very familiar with his game. He has played exceptionally well this year, but has never won a major. Sergio looked good today, but I am sure the pressure will get to him tomorrow and we will see the Sergio of old.

horseofcourse 07-22-2007 02:24 AM

I think Sergio will win this one. Stricker isn't exactly known as a closer and the next closest after him are 6 back. I don't think Stricker has won a stroke play event in over 10 years. Garcia will have to shoot worse than 72 to lose this one...not that he can't do that!!

Sam...it very easily could and it wouldn't surprise me if it did. His talent level has always been there...it his heart I have always questioned. If he wins today, the floodgates could open and he can begin to win in bunches.

They are playing in some steady drizzle this morning so far.

The Bid 07-22-2007 07:03 AM

He sure looks great so far, hope he plays well today

herkhorse 07-22-2007 07:38 AM

On the other side, If he does not win today-or plays bad, he will never win a major. Golf is all about confidence, and right now he's got it. Just one more hurdle, playing well on a Sunday:rolleyes:
