Its been a bit since we've seen him and a few juveniles have been impressive in the meantime like Winker Watson and Rio de la Plata (and I like River Proud alot!) but Henry is scheduled for the first juvenile G1 in Europe this sunday in the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh. Fallon will be on board for this first time...No real strong opposition is lining up, the useful filly Elletelle will be there with maybe some more O'Brien horses.. O'Brien has won 8 of the last 9 Phoenix Stakes!

Cannot see him being beaten, unless the ground was to come up really soft. Which may cause a problem to him. He will not be a betting proposition, that's for sure.

You spoke about River Proud. I was at Newmarket when he was just denied that nice win, and i noticed before the race he had a fresh cut just below his left eye. I'm not saying that stopped him for winning, but he must have felt that during the race.

I think he is being aimed at the Gimcrack at York on the 22nd of this month.

your 2000 Guineas winner. Cracking run.. he was ground dependent after all..

Wow, shocked!

Good for him and cheers to AOB.

Did NOT see this one coming!

Wow, good for him.

Sounds like a great race.

With the warm, dry weather we've had over the last few days, this one did slightly worry me (not enough to back him to win, though :( ). I think the ride Johnny gave him made all the difference, too. Timed to perfection.

No Chance, this could be clutching a bit at straws but how bad was the wind at Newmarket on Saturday. Im pretty sure that there was a pretty strong head wind (that wasnt there Sunday!) and obviously that would affect a front runner like New Approach more than Henry who got alot of cover. Murtagh rode an absolute corker of a race.. Im dont like Manning at all, but he didnt do much wrong, the only thing i would note, is that he seems to go into Frankie Dettori "Im just gonna absolutely whack the bejaysus out of the horse in the last 2 furlongs and not actually ride it properly" mode quite often..

brockguy 05-06-2008 01:34 PM

how are coolmore seriously thinking about the derby with this one.. i think he has absolutely zero chance of staying the derby trip... he looks the complete miler.. a derby could wreck him..

NoChanceToDance 05-07-2008 01:25 PM

There was a head wind, but it was nothing major, not in my opinion anyway.

Regarding your other point, yes, it would seem a very stupid decision to run him in the Derby, he surely has zero chance of staying that trip. I couldn't honestly see him staying any further than a mile.
