2nd inning, and Lowe gives up a 6. Lovely pitch location(as you can imagine.)They were looking for Seo(somebody bad to just pitch out the rest of the game,)but they traded him.

well...Im a Dodger fan (but I work for the Rays). LA got a decent left hander in Hendrickson and but a little downgrade in Toby Hall. I hope Dioner works out.
He makes his home here in tampa bay.

I followed LA around spring training the last 2 out of 3 years (posted some pictures at dodgerblues.com). Go Blue !

Although I'm a Yankee fan, the next superstar is David Wright of the Mets.
He's Derek Jeter and more...

Gander 06-27-2006 08:15 PM

I disagree about gambling Scuds. Its not only a financial thing. Its a deeper problem than that. I dont know Ramsey personally so I am not sure what kind of gambling he does, I know from a monetary standpoint he can afford to lose a ton and still be rich. But just because you are rich doesnt mean you cant have a gambling problem. It may not physically affect you directly like alcohol but it sure affects your moods, I dont care who you are. And relationships too. Many a rich men have lost spouses due to problems directly from gambling. To a lot of people it is a waste of time.

I do agree about alcohol and its affects. Its just bad news and nothing good ever comes from drinking excessively. Been there.

"Although I'm a Yankee fan, the next superstar is David Wright of the Mets.

No way is he Derek Jeter. Nobody in the world has the baseball sense Jeter has. He may not be the most talented player out there but nobody knows how to do more to help a team win than Jeter. He is a very talented player too, just not as talented as a guy like Pujols or Tejada.

I would agree that David Wright will be a superstar, but I very much doubt he'll win 4 world series in his first 11 years.

SCUDSBROTHER 06-27-2006 09:28 PM

Gander, you say it affects people's moods? Well,I think it attracts people with mood problems to begin with. So,it is often a symptom of a problem (not the actual problem.)It obviously ups your mood in anticipation of the race, and then lowers it when you lose.I again say that if people would only bet with money they could afford to lose, then they wouldn't have such low moods when they lose. See,it is a self-discipline problem.Gambling exposes things that are already there. It doesn't create anything that isn't already there.Anyways,I know you wouldn't be on here,or bet at all, if your mood wasn't elevated by doing so. So,blaming gambling for causing low moods, doesn't tell the other side of the story.Gander,it is no different than blaming potatoe chips for people being fat.People can enjoy them(and elevate their mood,)but if they eat too many of them, they will get fat(which will lower their mood.)The problems that come from gambling are the result of people betting too damn much money.Just like the problem that comes from potatoe chips is that people eat too many. What makes people stop eating them? Self -discipline.What makes people stop betting? Self -discipline.What you are saying is to get rid of all the potatoe chips, and then you don't have to control yourself.I have bet horses for about 24 years. To me,my self-discipline with it has gotten very good, and I don't bet anything over what I agreed to bet with before the day started. To me,you're blaming gambling for your own lack of self discipline. When you say somebody has a gambling problem, you should be saying that person has a self discipline problem(because that is where the problem is...not that somebody gambles, but that they do it too much.)

Gander 06-28-2006 07:58 AM

So your basically saying as long as you can bet what you can afford, you dont have a gambling problem? People like Ken Ramsey or John Daly can not be labeled as problem gamblers because they have so much money and if by chance they run out like Daly did, they have the means to go out and make more by making commercials, wearing a hat or winning a golf tournament. Or in Ramsey's case step on teh toes of somebody in the business world. I dont believe it.

It is considered an acceptable alternate spelling.Don't you know that? I haven't had the desire to eat them for a long time(I don't eat starch or sugar.) My foot hurts. My big to hurts, but the rest of my toes are fine. I was working hard in my yard yesterday(putting my ho in the ground.)You know how heavy them damn hoes can be.

This site below is for Gander. When he gives up gambling, he will need other hobbies.Taters will come in handy.

By the way,Kev,I am looking for a damn good backho.Matter of fact, one that I can dig good and deep with. Some of the cheap ones smoke, and tend to overheat.I don't want one that breaks down on me when I most need it to accept the task at hand.Good backhoes can be very useful indeed.

A good backho is very rare and incredibly hard to find...

Sox waxed the Mets for 10 in a row last night

His 4 world series don't make him a great player. Jeter is a winner but Wright is a better talent. Rivera had 20x more to do with the championships than Jeter. Jeter wasn't even a top 3 player on the Yankees when they were winning all their championships.

SCUDSBROTHER 06-28-2006 10:03 AM

Kev,I think the man you mentioned earlier(a Mr. Dan Quayle,)has used a good ho or two when he really had the need for it.I don't think he likes to use a good backho though. Some use a ho to dig and plow with, but some are afraid to use them for that(they just use a ho to touch various pieces of large equipment .)

Buffymommy 06-28-2006 10:16 AM

I think the Braves are going to surprize you guys after the allstar break...

I have hope!

Gander 06-28-2006 10:22 AM

Jeter wasn't even a top 3 player on the Yankees when they were winning all their championships.

I couldnt disagree with this more. There was nobody more clutch offensively through the palyoffs and world series during these 4 seasons. In addition he made critical plays in the field like that famous relay to the catcher against Oakland.

David Wright is hugely talented but the jury is still very much out on him. Hes not as good in the field as Jeter and he has struck out in many key situations this year, like last night when he was swinging for the moon when the Mets only needed a single (bases loaded 2 outs).

Gander 06-28-2006 10:25 AM

Buffy- The Braves are done for this year. The Braves lack the offensive weapons and the bullpen to put together the needed run this year. They would have to put together a streak of winning like 34 of 40 games to get back in the race. I dont see it happening, although they do play in a patsy division with only 1 good team.

I am going to keep hope alive! I think they are going to come out of their funk soon.

Take Rivera off the team and they might win 1. Take Jeter off and they win all 3, maybe 4. Bernie and O'Neil were more valuable. The Yankees won with pitching anyway, something they are just beginning to realize now.
