I still like Forever Together but I'm also maybe the only person on Earth who thinks the pace won't be that slow.

Are you at all concerned with Forever Together's run not being as effective at 10 furlongs? I think she would have been better off in the mile.

A little, but then again 10F @ SA isn't 10F at Belmont/Saratoga- partially because of starting on the downhill and partially because of the pool table cut of the grass. Plus, her best race was arguably the Diana at 9F, which I absolutely loved.

Then again, Wait a While could run her best race and crush all three of them, making our for/against arguments moot. Or, we could get mushed by the guy that throws in horses because they get hyped on here!

Zenyatta is the only one I see as a lock. Horses that I'd toss that may go off at under 5/1:

Intangaroo, Ginger Punch, Albertus Maximus, Munnings, Cost of Freedom

I thought she ran well first time here and I thought she ran a winning race in the Diana. I'm not going to go crazy on her, but I think her best fits here. Mauralakana is going to be tough and I'll have a hard time leaving Visit or Halfway To Heaven off any multi race ticket I play. What about Vacare underneath at a price?

I've given up on Vacare. I had high hopes for her after her three-year-old season, but she's done nothing but disappoint me since.

It's not really debatable that Mauralakana had a significantly worse trip than Dynaforce in the Flower Bowl. Why wouldn't Dynaforce have "accelerated away" from Mauralakana? Soft course or no, that was Dynaforce's best chance to beat Mauralakana, and she took advantage. Good for her, but I don't see a remotely similar setup materializing in this race.

About tomorrows card. I know I am gonna throw a couple $20's at Be Smart in the 5th, but man I really don't have a clue what to do.

I am just looking out there and hoping I am not the only one. God bless good ole dirt;) Not saying I would do better at the windows of course but man alive this is a puzzle like no other............................................. ......

AeWingnut 10-23-2008 06:01 PM

I don't think I will be playing too much tomorrow. It's bad enough trying to figure East Coast vs West Coast .. now we have that and the different AW surfaces to contend with.

really put off with the greatest day in racing being turned into the 2 so-so days.

as far as the 5th race tomorrow, Gotta wonder how far C.S. Silk is going to go. Will she set the race up for Stardom Bound. What about Pursuit of Glory?

He's a thousand to one, so there's no upside to knocking him, but what about him ( aside from Byk having a massive man-crush on the trainer ) makes him live?

I know you hate him BDW, but hes just a very honest horse. He will show up and run as hard as he can. He may not win but he will not run off the board, and youll get all he can give you

I don't hate him at all. I found it ridiculous when he was touted around here for the KY Derby, where he finished 11th ( and was never mentioned again until he showed up in this preposterous spot ), and now I find it even more ridiculous that he's being discussed seriously for THIS race.

Of course he will " run off the board " in this race. He can run the best race of his career and run 7th....or worse. So what. All that means is he's being misplaced. I guess if you're going to misplace your horses you might as well do it in a $5 million race. He is a decent horse, no doubt, but he's WAY over his head here.

AKA a Teuflesberg or Hard Spun type? I agree that he'll run as hard as he can, but I'm not sure running as hard as he can will equate to him finishing on the board here.

He could run the best race of his career plus 8 lengths and wouldn't hit the board here.

The Bid 10-23-2008 06:44 PM

He wont run worse than 3rd. He had a trouble trip in the Derby, and had to be stopped on due to the fever leading up. Hes too honest a horse to discount in any field. Those who do play exotics and discount him will shake their head at the end of the day

Hes very live, they are all very live. There is noway for any of us to know how these horses will take to this surface. Id rather die on a horse giving me an effort at a long price than a middle priced horse that we do not know about

A little help for your wagers on BC

pass 2 yr old races

draw a line thru euros, too hot in La, to little time here to acclimate,

concentrate on cal-based horses

I'm an honest guy, and I give an honest effort. But Smooth Air in this field is like putting me in a mile race with track athletes. I'm honest, I'd give my best effort, but in the end I would finish dead last and out of breath. It's not a knock on the horse...the horse is mis placed that's all.

dellinger63 10-23-2008 10:14 PM

I'd take a thousand to 1 or even 50-1 and included on pc 3's.

miraja2 10-23-2008 10:33 PM

I can't believe people are talking about this horse again.
We had to listen to this nonsense before the Derby too: http://www.derbytrail.com/forums/sho...ight=smooth%29

I wasted a lot of time in that thread trying to talk people out of betting a horse that was obviously hopeless, and I won't do that again, but I will say that this horse has ABSOUTELY no chance in this race. Zero. None.
