when they were discussing matthieu last year (glad he didn't get it, knowing all that's happened since) they said only one defensive player ever had gotten the heisman. and probably with good reason.
manziel has had a terrific season, but probably won't get some votes because he's a freshman (i think that is absurd, if he was the best player, why does it matter what year he's in?) so there has been and always will be people who won't for certain players for certain reasons. and one of those reason will always be position played. after all, linemen never get a nod. ray guy still isn't in the hall. plenty of examples of people who weren't considered the best player because of their position, or which side of the ball they play on. not saying it's right, it's just how it is.
