My issue with this whole story is, who cares? I mean you would think Joe Torre is interviewing to manage the Red Sox or something.

Who the heck is Nick Saban and who cares who coaches the Dolphins? They are a terrible team in a place where fans care more about percentage of body fat than what their team's records are. Sorry, thats just how I feel.

Either way, he'll be a nice fit for the Bama program and they'll definitely be better off than they were. Congrats to the Tide fans on landing a good coach... God knows you guys are paying him enough!

well, maybe he wasn't lying a couple weeks ago. then the money went up $10 million.

It's more of a crapshoot in CFB now than it was 10 years ago with the scholarship restrictions. 10 years ago Boise St would never have won a Jan 1 bowl game. You need to be very lucky to win a national championship. But the pressure to win in the NFL is far greater than in College.

The Dolphins are a total mess with Culpepper still hurt and due $6 mil next year. And even if he's recovered, he's thrown about 8 TD passes since 2004.

Miami's three quarterbacks for their final game this year were Cleo Lemon, Joey Harrington and Shane Matthews.

I'm not surprised one bit he took the money and the lower stress job.

I'm not surprised either, but you've got to understand that the way he handles things is rather sneaky. I'm sorry, but I'm still bitter at the way he left LSU. :p

it's somewhat newsworthy i suppose because he just got the biggest $ contract any ncaa coach received and people in Florida are far bigger football fans than baseball or basketball.

do people really care who manages the yankees any more?

As a Yankee hater and somebody who lives in NY (not the city but still NY)....yes they do! Baseball rules in this state. Its all about the Yankee - Red Sox here. I love the rivalry but I follow just about every team very closely and watch about 7-10 games per week.

true. he was asked monday if he would be meeting with any Alabama people and his response was "I don't know about that." that got a laugh out of me.

Cajungator26 01-03-2007 10:31 AM

Football is huge down here, but there are far more college football fans than NFL fans. I don't care as much about the Dolphins as I do about Saban going back to coach another SEC team.

fair enough. People here (in general, but not me) could care less about baseball. Marlins win 2 WS in 10 years and they get 2,000 people some nights. No wonder they can't get a stadium built.

Where will he go next?

Besides, how many more coaching gigs does this guy take until the job-jumping starts to actually hurt his career?

Hey Baba: He's NOT Larry Brown, lol! I think he's done moving, and will try to build a dynasty.

It'll take a couple of seasons, IMO...

Saban's record at LSU:

2000: 8-4
2001: 10-3
2002: 8-5
2003: 13-1 (National Champs)
2004: 9-3

Timm, he won't have a choice at this point...

With his moving around and flat out lies, nobody else will want him! LOL

thats lsu.
saban should have NO problems getting whatever player he wants. there are still plenty of guys that want the Honor of pulling on that Crimson jersey and running on the field in front of 90,000 people.

Are you serious? LOL!!! There is more talent in the state of Louisiana than Alabama any day of the week.

He's not going to have an easy time of recruiting either... good old Tubby will keep him busy. Saban will be cherry picking Mississippi and most likely will attempt at stealing a few Louisiana recruits.

BellamyRd. 01-03-2007 11:14 AM

ya know cajun we got burned by Franny just a couple of years back with his lying while he was striking up a deal with TA&M, who was given the worst bowl beating of any team, btw, lol, I'm not bitter, just I feel if you ain't with us, you're not agianst us, but more like good riddance, granted Saben brought a national championship to LSU before leaving, while Franny left us with a loss to auburn:(

gander I'm surprised at the media attention these coaching serches get myself, it's like there's been more talk of this than the upcoming Ohio State-Florida game...but I do agree with cajun when she says down south, college football is the most followed sport, where I'm sure it's different in the NE

Cajungator26 01-03-2007 11:16 AM

By the way, I should say that I am SCARED as a Tiger fan first and foremost. I am happy for you guys as Roll Tide fans, but I'm scared that we will lose some of our good recruits to Saban. SO, if I come across as negative, I apologize, but I'm just worried. I take football pretty seriously. :o

well I think you need to pick one team
having two SEC teams is equivalent to polygamy

i'm very serious. Alabama is still one of the few places that you can win national titles with a big MAJORITY of players being from inside that state. Bama has to get back the guys from Mobile that are goin to lsu. Bama is already getting the best players out of mississippi.

tubby is not winning the recruiting in the state now. he is getting some better players from outside the state.

I can't. :p

I was born and raised a Gator, but I love the Tigers too. I can't help it. Believe me, I get shiat for it all the time. ESPECIALLY from my own family.
