From the broadcast booth, Howard Cosell, in the overtly theatric tone he summoned for moments like these, bellowed into his microphone: “This is the dream matchup: Notre Dame-Alabama. At Notre Dame, football is a religion. At Alabama, it is a way of life.”

Here's my take on the game.
Both teams have great defenses. Outside of the great defenses about everything else is horribly bad to lukewarm good. The excitement over this game is extremely premature because it looks to me like this game will ultimately come down to special teams and field goals. Going by that logic the advantage goes to Alabama. When you face a team that returns kickoff for an average of 2.4 yards about the only way you lose the game is through breakdowns on defense and turnovers. Pardon my French but Notre Dame's offense isn't even on the same planet compared to Georgia's and I fail to see how you can be so cocky. You fools actually believe you can throw the ball against Bama with the success Georgia had? You can delude yourselves into believing that will happen. Sure ND has an excellent run game but Bama's strength on defense is stopping the run. Georgia had a good run game too. Actually had 9 more rushing td's than Notre Dame. The fact of the matter is this is a very young Alabama team in a bad season of football. Both of these teams would have been non-BCS bowl bound in 09. But all that really matters is the championship. The only exciting thing to me is potential for a rematch next season when both teams are a little older and mature. |
First I never really "dropped" out cause I didn't lose any money in the deal and actually had a 3.0 and passed all my classes. I don't consider that dropping out, I just decided I didn't want to go to msu anymore lol.
Second, don't you have better things to do like making moonshine, chewing tobacco, or listening to bluegrass than posting on this board? Third, I get it. Football is life to most people in the south. Rednecks driving a rusty old pinto drinking natty light still somehow find a way to buy a ticket to the game. Fourth, molesting children is not right and everyone can agree on that. A couple priest do not represent the church and the rest of the good catholic priest. In Alabama, incest is not frowned upon rather a way of life. Fifth, F* ck Bama GO IRISH! Sixth, I GUARENTEE Notre Dame wins this game and if you want to make a friendly wager hillbilly coach let me know. |
you don't post enough to qualify for that bet. I already have side bets with people and don't particularly care to add more bets.
Don't have enough room in my fridge for all of the beer i'll be getting. |

What happened???
To the roll you know what thread? I don't see it anywhere?
|
9 views no answers? Was something said that got the thread deleted? Was I right after week one about Notre Dame making it to the Championship so it was deleted?

SE-WHO??? After watching the SEC struggle with the mighty Big 10 and LSU and Florida losing to big east and ACC schools I am feeling great about Monday.
HERE COME THE IRISH!!!!! |
Anyone else PRAYING that ND gets the $hit kicked out of them? Back to the dark hole of irrelevance in which ND fans have been hanging in for the past 10 years +.

as for the other post above, with references to lsu and fla's games-wtf do they have to do with bama? not a thing. and it's those sort of posts that make me reconsider hoping for a dame win....actually, at this point, i'm considering dropping watching ncaa football altogether. the line between passion and insanity has been crossed by too many. i watch football to enjoy it, not to worship it. it's become a religion to some, and zealots abound. |

but i've made up my mind, i'm done with ncaa football. and you know, it's a relief. i mean, you can't walk around with a lsu shirt on without people commenting-and some are downright rude. it's ridiculous, and i have no more control over how a team plays than any of these fanatics have with 'their team'. i'm done with it, it's just ridiculous. |

Great stat, good luck Alabama.
"The Irish allowed -5 total yards on 39 goal-to-go plays this season, the fewest yards and lowest average in the nation. Against the run, their opponents had -28 yards on 24 carries." |

Both ND lines are getting manhandled. This is going to get uglier.

Well the great thing to come from all of this is that the BCS finally legitimized itself with truly the two best teams in CFB facing off.

Any system that allowed these clowns to be in the final games when they got outplayed several times during the season, most notably by Pittsburgh with a backup quarterback, should be ended immediately. Anyone that was not stupid (the word he so elegantly chose for me) could have have seen Notre Dame was garbage. No redboard here as I said Bama by at least 17.

$100 donation to Old Friends. Here is the link. http://www.oldfriendsequine.org/how-to-help.html Remember, you have until January 21st to make the donation and the donation needs to be proved to one of the mods of the board....or you are gone (again). On the bright side, for $100 you can sponsor one of the horses and get a picture of whatever horse you choose. Wouldn't it be nice to have a picture of Commentator? Plus, you'll be doing a good thing. |
OH irish boy!
how'd that CRIMSON BEAT DOWN of your OVER-RATED irish feel? now get in here and appologize to everyone for ALL your crap the last 2 months! ROLL TIDE! |
Bama beat the snot out of ND. I've gotten more joy this year from ND than ever before. Part of my enjoyment was the smack talk I was able to provide. I feel good and am only sad that a season like this might not come again, although I'm confident it will. GO IRISH!
