I apologize. I assumed you were talking about the BCS title game. I agree with you. Florida likely ends up in a BCS game and Georgia won't. I think if Georgia upsets Bama all 3 teams end up in a BCS game.

Your word means very little to me as you know, so this way, we'll just know for sure.

nope. bcs games are conference limited. so a crappy big east team will get in, because they're guaranteed a spot, but a good sec won't, because they aren't allowed more than one.

http://www.bcsfootball.org/news/story?id=4819597

The champions of the Atlantic Coast, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, and Southeastern conferences will have automatic berths in one of the participating bowls through the 2013 regular season.

No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections, unless two non-champions from the same conference are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final BCS Standings.

and then there's this:

The pairings may not be altered by removing the Big Ten Champion or Pac-12 champion from the Rose Bowl.

and people want to know why there's no big playoff series? because, right now, money, big bowls and the attention it brings are guaranteed to these conferences. the lesser teams benefit as well, because many conferences divide bowl money won. so, each year the pac 12 and big 10 know they get a cut of the rose bowl, regardless of who does what. if you go to a playoff, the end result would still not be 'the best get in'. it would be 'the best who win their conference' just like it is now.

IrishofNDMan 11-26-2012 10:32 AM

I don't care who they play, but if it's Georgia I am 100% confident ND will win the title. They played a soft schedule of only 2 ranked opponents, one of which blew them out 35-7 in south Carolina. I'll take Kelly over richt coaching and having a mon to prepare any day. I'll still be confident if it's bam a, just a lot more so if it's the dawgs.

note that georgia is considered to have played the 23rd toughest schedule.

notre dame? 25th.

Glad you believe everything you see on the Internet!!!!! This site has nd at 8 and Georgia at 27 SOS so I guess you can find it any way you want. Truth is if you look at both their schedules you will know nd had a tougher one, that is if you know ANYTHING about college football.

I'm trying to defend ND believe it or not Austin, but even you have to admit that they should have lost the Pitt game. The refs blew it multiple times. How could they not see there are two guys both wearing #2 on the field at the same time...on the same team:zz:

Yeah I thought they were going to lose many times during that game, buy somehow they didn't and that is what story book seasons are all about. They aren't about blowouts, they are about close calls, controversy, and just finding a way to win the game. 1 more to go, at the beginning of the season I told my dad I just wanted to be able to watch ND play for it all one time with him, I was 2 in 88 the last time they won it all. Team of destiny and my son is 2 yrs old right now as well, coincidence??? I think not lol

Your a nd basher is way I'm saying. I believe you know college football but your one of those people who had sooooo much hate for ND tat you will do whatever and find whatever you can to try to downplay their season. Deep down you know better but you won't admit it.

i don't hate them at all. i'm not biased in any way. i think they're the beneficiary of a lot of bias from the press, etc. it's got nothing to do with 'deep down' anything. when one considers the bsc, and how they choose bowl recipients, and notre dame is listed specifically....well, there's a huge reason for that, and it's got a lot to do with bias. name another school specifically listed. there isn't one.

as for SOS. fla has played a tougher one than any of the three teams ahead of them.

Unfortunately, with most of my pending in laws and family ND alum I have watched every freakin game this year and although I still despise them as much as ever, I have to admit that they are the real deal. I think Alabama is going to have their hands full, especially trying to run the ball.

Bob, i hate nd as much or more than anyone, especially because of fans like IoND. i also think i've watched enough and i'm big enough college football fan to give a team it's due credit. the nd defense is nice but not great and the offense is average at best. the schedule fell apart for them to win and they still struggle to make 11-0. i'm saying they are the worst 11-0 team i can remember and will be the worst team to win it all, (if they do) that i can remember.

i'm not sure what Bama will do saturday against UGa. IF Bama is Focused, they'll win. honestly i'm disappointed with the Bama offense and the OL. there have been times they have not dominated like the should. and this is Not a great bama defense but i've known that all along. this defense is good and has shown some guts when needed.
UGa is more talented than nd as far as that goes Lsu, Fla and T-a&m are more talented than nd. sadly IoNd is probably right, IF Uga wins the SEC, nd will win all. mark richt can NOT keep that teams focus at all! Uga's nat'l champ. is this weekend. richt can never keep those boneheads focused and out of troublefor 6 weeks.

12-0..., no bias needed.

12-0 don't cut them short.

that's this year. that's not what has gotten them all the preferential treatment all these years, and better bowl game bids when others with better records got passed over.
and fla would be 12-0 with the schedule dame had. so would bama, a and m, and a host of others.

Danzig 11-26-2012 02:30 PM

let's look at dame's opponents this year.

navy. 7-4 yeah, a real powerhouse
purdue 3-5. dame won by 3.
michigan state ended at .500 6-6
michigan, got their asses handed to them by 'bama 41-14. lost to dame 13-6.
miama (not the hurricanes)
stanford, quality opponent. had to go to ot for that one, no shame for either one.
byu. lol squeaked by 17-14.
oklahoma-second best opponent faced by dame after stanford.
pitt, in ot. pitt. another win by 3.
bc. lol they just fired their coach cause they suck
wake. sigh
usc. 7-5. lost to every ranked team they faced this year.

yeah, tough schedule.... /sarcasm

after it's all over-how many quality opponents did they face? how many did others, such as fla (who it seems has faced a tougher schedule than many, including dame/georgia) square off against? where are all the opponents ranked now compared to through the season? that's what tells the tale.

IrishofNDMan 11-26-2012 02:50 PM

All I know is notre dame played 9 bowl eligible teams which will be 10 if Pitt wins this week. Bama has beat 5 and Georgia has beat 4 teams who are bowl eligible. Facts are facts.

Check out this article, it's a good one. You do realize that notre dame has a lot of players who were also given scholarship offers from premiere SEC schools right, this isn't a team with a bunch of low star recruits.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--...205348035.html

Danzig 11-26-2012 03:01 PM

notre dame had to squeak by multiple, weak opponents. did you look at bama's scores this year? they lost to the aggies, ranked-and not going to the poinsettia bowl by the way-but their closest margin was vs lsu-also in the top ten. they beat michigan by a huge margin, what was the notre dame score in that?
i'm looking at everything without a bias either way. unlike some on here, and certainly unlike you.

no doubt you're proud they got to the title game, as you should be. enjoy it. but don't make them out to be some world beater who is heads and shoulders the best. they aren't.

i'm pulling for the bulldogs in the championship, as i don't want bama in there. if it's bama vs dame, i'd rather nd won it.
