Horses to watch at Santa Anita
Race 1 - El Salsero-good works and a cagey barn on a huge drop with this one. I believe this is go time.
Race 2 - #11 Range Roover will never be 6-1 as his morning line suggests but I like him here. Total bomb #10 Bertrando's Flag for the suddenly warm McAnally barn.
Race 3 - #3 Notional appears to be a standout but these are all improving 3 yo's.
Race 4 - Rodeo Shopper appears set for his best with GoGo.
Race 5 - Tiz Afire appeared to be best in his last race when Leparoux had to wait an eternity turning for home and lost a ton of ground. This is his third off the layoff and his form on reg dirt is admirable.
Race 6 - The #3 Island in the Sky appears set for a big effort at 15-1 on the morning line. I love his trainer and this is the only time i ever bet this jock when he rides for Dickie. That being said, Baffert appear to have 2 very nice colts in here and either of them could win. I think Victor probably had his choice but who knows. #9 Saintly Son worked evenly with Bitter Bill who disposed of an allowance field yesterday.
Race 7 - Not one of my stronger plays for the day but #9 Peter and Zoe has been working on relaxing in the morning and at 10-1 with GoGo, take a stab. #3 Firebird Sweet looks lke he will excel at the distance, but i despise Solis.
Race 8 - On what basis is the highly overrated Brother Derek favored on the morning line. He has no chance to win. He cheapens himself with every start. Midnight Lute continues to train forwardly and was troubled at the start in his latest. I think he will have no trouble with the added distance and looks strong. Awesome Gem loves Santa Anita ans figures to be a value play.
Race 9 - I like the looks of #1 Veils de Fleur. This will be his third start and Valdivia stays with this one in what is a rather nondescript field. Excellent value on the morning line.

***As a side note, the morning line maker at Santa Anita has been horrible so far this meet. I would say that his morning line favorites have actually been favorites less than half of the time. Not an easy job, but this is pathetic.

I'm headed out to Santa Anita today to watch Brother Derek play with his friends.

I agree with you here. Noticed Leparoux's ride last out and added this one to my watch list.

In the 5th at Santa Anita, I would look for a big improvement from American Imperium. He had huge trouble in his last two races. Solis rode him both times and absolutely butchered him both times.

The connections were not too pleased with Solis. They took him off the horse. Flores is riding today.

Lazy Hog

The quality of my picture is so bad watching the video feed on the computer that I could hardly even see the horse today. Did he have any excuses? I'll get a better look tonight when I get to watch it on television.

Have been picking and choosing my spots today, and the spots I've chose have turned out poorly.
Let's take one more shot....Late pk. 4 at Santa Anita.

So far, it's been all jockeys. Espinoza, Nakatani and Gomez have won everything so far. Let's see if that trend continues.

6) 2,5,7,9,10,11
On paper, it looks like a spread race. That being said, the favorite will probably win.
I'll include both horses with races under their belt. Hurry Home Warren and Saintly Son both had the speed and fade on the cushion track at Hollywood, and should improve with the move to Santa Anita. For the first timers, I've got to include both Baffert horses. The Paasch horse looks live, so I'll Include Charlie as well. 5 might be worth including too.
7) 8,9,10
King Mobay could be loan speed here, so I'm not thrilled about using any of the deep closers. Peter and Zoe should be close to the pace, and as hot as Espinoza is, I refuse to toss Soupy even though he's not my favorite in this spot.
8) 9
Like Awesome Gem and Spring at Last, but will just single Midnite Lute for all the obvious reasons. Should handle this group, and as I've mentioned Twice, Espinoza is on fire.
9) 1,8,10
I think Charisma Matters is the horse here (Espinoza Again) but like the Carla Gaines first timer, too. Thinking about adding the 1 horse, as Patty Gallagher is off to a nice start at Santa Anita.

$54 for a $1.
Good luck everyone!

A little scared here with the 2 singled on my Pick 6 and going off at 6-1. Apparently everyone else doesn't like the horse as much as I do.
