Don't have time for a Travers Day recap except to say we saw a great horse win easily. Spent an hour with Tom Albertrani and Bernardini at the barn Sunday morning after the media hub-bub, where we found him soaping saddles and bridles with his staff like he would any other day..
For the record, there are few conditioners in this game as deserving of a horse like this than Albertrani. He is as hard-working, gracious, warm and unassuming as anyone in the sport, and more than anything else, a gentleman. My congratulations to him and everyone associated with Bernardini..
Had only one big hit Travers Day and a few minor scores, but it was enough to cover everything and then some.. The personal highlight was being invited into the the winner's circle for My Typhoon's win and hoisting a champagne flute in the Saratoga Room afterwards. Congratulations and thanks to Charlotte Weber and Ginny Moens, John Rassmussen and the Live Oak crew and Bill Mott... Had tons of old and new friends around for Travers, and it was a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable day... More on the Travers when I can.
Monday's card is not great, and there is a chance we'll be off the turf again...
