Final week of racing in the New York and Los Angeles metropolitan areas with Saratoga and Del Mar looming on the horizon. But even with the winding down towards the classic summer resort meets, fireworks may still remain in the cities as Sunday's double carryover at Hollywood demonstrated. Sequence ultimately proved reachable, as $5.5k was returned to winners, but I could only muster the $73 P4 on a $50 play, but it was a fun way to end the Summit of Speed weekend.

Hope everyone did well. Belmont action today to start this closing week... Last day of live broadcasting from Florida today as K.C. and I take a two day break before Saratoga shows start next week!

Thx Rand...

Turf course update hasn't been revised yet, but just checked with Sciacca, and 1, 6, 7 are off as of now. He thinks they'll all come off by later this morning. Raining steadily at BEL now. Main track sloppy.

Final week of racing. Terrible (and small) fields for the most part this meet and the ****ERS take the races off the turf.

Hard to like the decision makers at NYRA.

EDIT: 5th and 8th are still on

Interesting situation with Paraiba. IMO, she's a very nice turf filly (and has always been) but has difficultly putting in sustained runs because she has footwork issues. I.E. she doesn't like to get hit and changes leads repeatedly when she is. Johnny V butchered her a number of times early until he finally understood this and he now rides her the best. You wonder, however, if DONK understands this. He sends her to DEL last out for that mini stake and she was the only horse to close in a race that didn't come back. She ran extremely well under the circumstances. But she was all over the place in the stretch, changing leads back and forth, and running in spurts, as Saez was beating on her. I suppose that DONK didn't tell him to use the whip as little as possible. Kind of defeats the point of shipping her there. (Not that Prado rode her any better 2 races back.)
