Here's a short story written by Cliff Guilliams (race writer out of Churchill) listed in Sunday's Evansville Courier
"It was humorous the other night watching TVG. An uninformed announcer bellowed that all sources betting on Turfway Park’s winter/spring was up 69 percent, all because of polytrack. He probably didn’t know, and didn’t mention that during the previous year, Turfway lost 14 racing days to poor weather. And, when other tracks cancelled, Turfway was one of the few still open.
They keep saying how few catastrophic breakdowns happen on the synthetic stuff. They never, however, tell you how many were vanned off, which the official charts attempt to report.
Check the equine ambulance log on that figure. Hope they don’t have to rip the stuff up in a couple of years."
Interesting!!!!!
