Leftover carry from Belmont Day produced a fascinating sequence Wednesday with one impossible horse and no winning favorites. The $552k return was outstanding, with 5 winners including the Twin Spires Player's Pool group that ponied up $60,000. Each $10 increment (minimum) will have retuirned a bit more than $7 after taxes, so the 'score' may be viewed by some as modest. Much more rewarding is the experience it produced for those that got involved, and demonstrates again how many innovative ways there are in the modern age to interest, intrigue and educate existing and potential horseplayers. Congratulations to those that at least tried for a piece of the pot that defied expert estimates by exceeding $4,000,000. Hollywood ended up with a $93k carryover from last night, and I went ahead and looked over the tricky sequence in addition to the Churchill quad that I had promised...
