What does Deep Stack Turbo mean?

Deep Stack is basically a tournament where your starting chip size is larger than normal relative the stakes you're playing for. Turbo just means the blinds go up faster so the tourney doesn't tend to last as long.

As an aside...I sat at another 90 player SnG on Full Tilt last night...made the final table and finished 6th:tro:

Interesting combo, I'd assume being aggressive early could be to your advantage in that format.

Perfect example is the WSOP Main Event, you buy in for 10k, but you start with 20k in chips.

It is amazing to me how someone gets knocked out on opening day given that blinds don't even reach 500/1000 by the end of day 1,

Blinds are 2 hours long, and they start at 25/50 I think, and you have 20k in chips, it is wild.....I wouldn't be seeing a pot unless I had 10's or better, late position, or big blind no raise the first day. Yet I have heard that at least 10 people get knocked out within the first 10 minutes of play at the main event....

probably got beat with pocket A's or K's. If the blinds aren't up that high, you're right.... either horrid luck or bad playing gets you ko'd the first day.
In other words.... learn how to fold.

I'm hoping I can see some cards, as I'm considering playing in the single day WSOP circuit event in Hammond the 24th.

Two years ago I was on in Vegas and got into a WSOP Bracelet event, $1500 buy in. I was crazy excited about it, but cost my focus because I was in the Rio sportsbook playing Belmont and Arlington, had P3's going while the first hands were being dealt.

I was at a table with Yung Phan and another pro, who I ended up knocking out, and I ended up lasting 6.5 hours. I caught some major hands but I ended up losing complete patience, mostly due to playing blackjack all night and not getting any sleep the night before. It was a good experience though, looking forward to doing it again.

the tourny friday was not bad, it got 115 ppl, 10k in chips to start, for the stone that is deep stack, normal tournys start with 4k... i played very well early, got down to 3 tables with 94k in chips and just could not change gears, i stayed in aggrasive/gamble mode and blew it all, finished 18th out of 115, no cash for that.

Its not that easy man, do you not think the ppl putting up the 10k say that same thing before ? There are so many super aggresive players out there, including myself, that even if you only play your 10's or better, no one will respect your raise when you come into pots.... in my little 95 buy in friday night, i gained most of my chips with q 4 diamonds.... flopped a flush, guy with aces moves all in, says to me " i know you have a diamond " i say sorry i have 2.....
you have to play hands to win.

no but i was at foxwoods 2 weekends ago, they charge 10 a hour to play 1-2 300 max..... THATS WAY TO MUCH, me and my buddy played for like 15 without a break, and were disgusted with the 300 we gave to the casino, as well as easily another 200 between us in dealer tips, and tips for drinks.

I don't think there's a rake at Foxwoods, just $5 pp every time they change dealers, which is every 1/2 hr.

Turns a blank, and the river is a brick, and he takes the hand down. He then proceeds to take the whole thing down, mowing over multiple opponents by merely looking at them and extracting important information through table talk..

Well, I would have to look at the math, but that might be a pretty good deal for the player, especially if you are just tossing $5 chips in every half, instead of them hitting you up for $300 after a 15 hour session, that would drive me nuts.

i flopped the flush won a big pot, went to around 30 players with over 90 k in chips and ****ed it all up.

im sitting on around 94k.... blind are 1k-2k.... 29 players left, i get delt q 10 hearts..... no one raises, 4 in the pot. it comes king jack hears, 2 spades. i have a open ended royal flush draw.... this lady bets out 6k the other 2 fold, i raise 25k, she goes all in for 60k, i call.....she has a k, turn is a queen. now im drawing to a queen, ten, ace, nine or any heart.... river is a 3 spades.... that hand crippled me, put me to under 30. with high blinds and antees

It is strictly time collection, no rake for no limit. You put your chip up when a new dealer comes in, so they don't come at you with their hand open when you get up to leave.

$5 every half hr for 1-2 NL
$6 for 2-4 NL
$8 for 5-10 NL

Limit games are raked with no time collection

Man, that is freakin' AWESOME!!!
Dude, the other day I was playing with some buddies and the strangest thing happened. I was the big blind and was dealt 9h-6c. The guy on the button raised 4x the big blind. I looked at my cards, saw the 9-6, and folded because it didn't seem like a very good hand. It turns out the guy that raised had pocket jacks, so I'm really glad I folded. Isn't that a cool story?

I'll probably be posting more fascinating stories like this in the days to come, but I might save the real juicy ones like this for the poker blog I'm thinking about starting.

ended up getting blinded out in 108th out of 1187. that's the most ever to play in a WSOP circuit event. didn't get any cards at all the last 4 hours.
not horrible for 1st time playing in a WSOP sanctioned event.
