What's up with the 30-1 ML on this one. He's won at 1 1/2 and 1 1/8 winning three in a row. Has 3 decent works at Del Mar.....no synthetic starts but isn't this one just a tad light on expectations

I like this one, too. Track wasn't playing his way in the last race. Wasn't supporting that outside stretch move. Of course, there's no reason why it can't be against him today too. Has a class deficit to make up, but I think he has improved enough to be dangerous. He may get over bet though. Don't take shtty odds when having to beat a type he hasn't beaten yet. I like Banner Lodge in the last a lot more, but(again) may get overbet. That's a 1 turn horse. Don't know why they forced 2 turns upon him. I thought he was gunna be a 1 turn stakes horse, and this isn't a stakes.

I think you'll definitely get double digit odds. I guess you saw that superwoman/the energizer bunny scratched today. Maybe Abrams is coming to his senses.

I DOUBT IT. MAYBE SHE GOT SICK THE LAST FEW DAYS. Maybe he realized that was a very tough group for not all that much money. Would of been damn near impossible to face top older girls on 1 weeks rest. Probably didn't expect that tough a field for a grade 3.

Hard-Knocking Lethal Heat Exits Rancho Bernardo

Citing the possibility that three races in 16 days might too much for even the hickory-like Lethal Heat, trainer Barry Abrams withdrew the 3-year-old filly from today’s Grade III, $200,000 Rancho Bernardo Handicap at 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track.

A start in the Rancho Bernardo would have been her fourth of the meeting, all stakes races, and the third since August 8 when she won the Real Good Deal Stakes against Cal-bred males. Last Saturday, Lethal Heat finished third in the Grade I Del Mar Oaks.

Earlier in the meet, the Cal-bred daughter of Unusual Heat won the Fleet Treat Stakes for Cal-bred fillies. Also on her 2008 resume is a win in the Grade III Santa Paula Stakes at Santa Anita and the Grade II Hollywood Oaks.

Abrams said he would now wait for a possible invitation to the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at Keeneland October 11.

Too much? Ya think??? I love her, but give the girl a little break! (she still woulda won) :D

Obviously Midnight Lute looks very tough in here but I think Rebellion is being overlooked at the 15-1 ML (12-1 right now). All he's done around one turn in the States is win the Ack Ack, Commonwealth, 2nd in the Phoenix, win a turf stakes at Belmont, and turf allowances at Laurel and Calder. Should get a great setup with all the speed in here and love the turnback.

Couldnt agree more Phil. Im with you on the cutback, and the odds are well worth the shot as well. Played him to WP and am in the process of coming up with a few exotics. best of luck to ya!!

Why did he enter her, then? LOL....Probably didn't expect the Tricksi in there.
Leathal Heat is honest as they come. He either gives her the situation she needs, or he doesn't. She needs a war up front, and going 1 turn. She can't beat a horse like Tricksi unless another filly pushes on her hard the 1st 4 furlongs.

Beaten chalk in 4 out of the last 6 races. One of the other 6 races was in the slop. Knows how to burn money.

Ton of pace in here... best closer is hung out in the 10 post... best horse is coming off an awful effort, I'm thinking bombs away. Maybe the 1 on a return to form.

As much as I dislike Gomez... that was a BRILLIANT ride to recognize the pace and change tactics a bit and take way back. the 6 might have been best if he didn't get shut off in the lane.

Even though I want to barf saying it... I think Student Council is the most likely winner. I'd bet the 2, though, even though I don't think a mile and a quarter is best for him.
