Del Mar is not my kind of place, and I rarely cap it on a regular basis, but it is opening day where the turf meets the surf... I've become friends with Racing Director Ric Hammerle, so I feel obligated to try!

Only connection i see is that it is owned by Jenny Craig who is the Queen of Del Mar and her horses usually run well there, much like Mary Lou is the Queen of Saratoga.

Steve,

WOW did you do well at Del Mar. I didn't take any action as I forgot all about it. Keep up the great picks Mr Byk as you have a very unique knack that is incredible. I am seeing your logic in some of your picks but some really throw me off. Thanks for more good days than bad.

This has bugged me for years. Jenny Craig Past away years ago and not many know.

The connection was the trainer Bill Spawr. He almost boycotted running horses at Hollywood Park. I expect his barn to put up some winners at Del Mar.

B/G/S,

Thanks so much for the kind sentiments.. I very well may not have a day like that at DMR the rest of the meet. Not a place I play at all... I was dialed into this group though, with winners from 2 top choices and 3 #2 tab victors... The P4 ($400) was there for anyone with a 2x2x2x2 play of the top picks... Made up for being "around it" all afternoon at Belmont!

My "logic" is that all trainers are essentially larcenous... Any horse that "doesn't belong" in a race is the first one to look over three times... Why is he here? And since favorites, especially super short favorites get beat 2 of 3 times, what's wrong with tossing them and filling up the box with 18-1 shots? There is simply no other way to make money long term in this game other than to catch large exotic returns regularly... and you can't do that too often with 6-5 shots on top.

I'm pretty sure Jenny Craig is still alive.

Jenny Craig is alive, but has gone thru some terrible times physically with a bad nerve damage problem(semi-stroke maybe? She lives quietly out of public eye...there was some facial paralysis i believe.

 Where do you get that from? I admit I'm not up on the latest on Jenny Craig, but a brief google search came up with nothing on her being "gone." But, by the way this article from June 20, 2006 reads, she's still alive. Read the last sentence:

If she was dead, why would horses still be listed under her name instead of just her husband or the Estate of....
