I was hoping for a touch hotter pace in the 9th for Grand Canal (#11) to run at...but for 6250 claimers, I guess a 22.4 first quarter is about as fast as you can get.

Horrifying...MCL8k, Dated Nickel, N2L, N2L, N2L, Clm16k, N2L, Clm25k, Clm6.25k, Mcl12.5k...classic Tampa midweek card....right up my alley....

Race 7: Clm 16000N2L 7.0f Dirt

5 - Essence of Time - First time in for a tag since her debut victory for Lynne Scace/Pedro Cotto duo. Her only trip around the Tampa oval resulted in a nice 2nd place finish off a 1.5 year layoff.
4 - Ontherockswithsalt - Wild Wonder filly sports her only career victory at Tampa. Bullet on the 20th signals her readiness.

Race 8: Clm 25000 Abt 8.5f Turf

5 - Couple Whiles - Should a hot pace ensue, here is the benfactor. 3 for 9 over the Tampa blades.
10 - Starlet Sky - Ultra consistant Dale Bennett mare. Should sit a stalking trip.
1 - Miltos Express - Should the aforementioned hot pace not materialize, this one can steal it on the front end for last year's leading trainer, Jamie Ness.

Race 9 - Clm 6250 7.0f Dirt

6 - Brassie Prince - Goes for three in a row for the white hot Mike Dini.
3 - Native Match - Wire to wire candidate with a bit better break than last.
10 - Coleridge - Easing back down to his proper level. Draw a line through his last effort (two turns = too far).
2 - Barney Smith - Old war horse should be running well late in his second attempt over the Tampa sand.

Race 10 - MCL 12500 6.0f Dirt

10 - Brome - Fired two bullets since his arrival. Not many horses at this level can do that.
4 - Buddha Pass - Working very well in Ocala for his debut. Doesn't have to be much to compete with these.
5 - Red Falcon - Has the look of a career maiden, Catalano couldn't get him into the Chicago winners circle, so it is an uphill battle for Slomkowski to get the job done.

Small ticket:

4,5/1,5,10/2,3,6,10/4,10 = $48

Big ticket:

4,5,8/1,5,6,8,10/2,3,6,10/4,5,10 = $180

R1 Md 8K F&M 3yo and up 6F

6 Honorway – beaten only a ½ length at this level 3 back nice recent gate work
1 SS Fine Regallia – two ITM finishes at 12.5, drops with a nice 36.3 tightener coming in Late SCR
4 – Mitzi’s Gamble – Would really like to have seen first time Lasix ere, indications from the first start looks an awful lot like she bled…unruly in the gate last out, work tab not too impressive, but probably the best bred of the bunch, worth a shot WON

R2 Clm 5K N2Y F&M 3yo and up 7F

1 Tactical Fortune – This angle has been productive in the past, but Bourke is 9-0-1-3 with Patrick’s Hoo shippers this meet. Changes here – fired a bullet 49 (best of 28) last Thursday, and won two back at N1Y, company here not as tough
9 Sheer Slik – quick turnaround for a gal that was entered in a rather strange 8K clm last Tuesday – race ran more like a 10-12.5k and moderate works show 5k right where she needs to be WON
4 Silverdollardella – Suf shipper dropping out of alw company has got it done here in the past and has handled this company last time at this level

R3 Clm 8K N2L F&M 3yo and up 7F

5 Honkeytonkville- Monte Thomas doesn’t bring ‘em here unless they can win; M. Allen gets the mount – this one flies under the radar
4 Yes Its True Sherry – gets a much more beneficial pace setup than she did last out
10 Arapaho Princess – can stalk the 4 and close into faster fractions; No factor in Alw 45 last out, but gotta respect a J. Perrotta Jersey bred who can certainly be in the mix here
6 Belgrade Lakes – use if Rosie gets the mount – took a nasty spill the other day at Calder and don’t know if she’s in town or not 3rd

R4 Clm 8K N2L 3yo and up 6F
2 Wheaty Moon – can’t deny the success that the Suf shippers have enjoyed here so far – certainly in form and Fresh; lone speed; hopefully the m/l is right (lol) and we can catch 8-1 here, highly doubt it, expect post time fav WON
8 Katie O’Ready- sniffed the wire missing in her best dirt performance here last meet; draws Velez; More than Ready filly is the class SCR Sub 3 All Krisco
9 Skipinganddancing – Broke mdn here last meet; didn’t care for the slop or the weeds; nice fit here for 8 2nd $2 ex 54.20
Bet against – 5 Major Jack 5-2…Five tries at Mdn 5K to finally break can’t get it done elsewhere for clm 5K..5-2??!! Let’s Hope! 4th

R5 Clm 8K N2L 3yo and up 6 F

2 Divine Wonder – off since Apr; trainer 40%…Loves Tampa 2nd
5 Wild Nuevent – speed duel nipped at the wire in his first; should have the front end to himself unless the 9 gets involved late from the outside
1 Ifyousnoozeyoulose – Bob Jeffries entry draws Lopex for a reason; working well in the am and the drop to 8 makes him a must
6 Poison Pill – need to include in P3 just in case; CD shippers are notoriously bad first out here, and while his BSF’s stand up, really shows little SCR

R6 Clm 16K 3yo and up about 1 1/16th mi TURF

8 Manchu Prince – Dale Bennett en fuego here; 425K Gone West purch got it done at 35k three back; no need to look elsewhere WON
1 Solar Surprise - Linda Rice’s Old Trieste gldng is 10-3-3-0 over the Tampa turf can mix it up inside (important here) and the drop to 16
2 Dropkick Murphy – best of the rest but no match for the above
AE: 11 Peace Emblem 2nd $2 ex 41.00

Bet against – Brickell 3-1..I know he gets Centeno, I know his speed figs are above this field….His running style indicates he has to go uncovered around the shute and 2 turns into a very short stretch .. deadly here in Tampa…If anyone knows it’s Centeno, but if the horse can’t race in company and has to be wide the entire trip, Hope he takes all the money - no thanks. 3rd

R7 Clm 16K N2L F&M 3yo and up 7F

What a mess to start the P4…..

5 Essence of Time – Lynn Scace on the drop from Alw; Suf shipper 2nd
4 Ontherockswithsalt - missed Alw N1X two back by less than a length at da Mountain bullet 36 last WON
6 Proper N Prim – Can’t ignore the Tampa form from last meet; working well in the mornings
7 Robin On the Wire/9 Cowgirl Affair/1 I Love to Say Yes – all underneath considerations; I’m steering clear of this race other than to use the 4,5,6 in the P4 $2 ex 27.80

R8 Clm 25K F&M 3yo and up about 1 1/16th Mile TURF

10 Starlet Sky – gets turf and distance; 11 wins in 31 starts; D. Bennett 35% off the l/o 2nd
Couples While 5 – in form; moving up to 25 after two successful bids @ 18WON
1 Miltos Express – Ness’ Haw shipper hit at 18 last out draws Centeno 3rd $2 ex 27.00 $2 tri 95.20 $2 P3 R6-8 170.40

R9 Clm 6250 3yo and up 7F

Need to use 5 here…

4 Goes – dated nickel runner (thanks Chuck!) off a uneventful poly trip steps it up a notch
6 Brassie Prince – Dini on fire 23% when won last; looked sharp in his Tam debut
9 Hopefortheroses – lol…Hoo shipper can close into a blistering front end
10 Coleridge – in from Catalano’s Haw barn; 2 successful back to back bids for a nickel, not much to move up WON
12 Premier Court – speed if he can hold off the others’ can get it done at a great price

R10 Md 12.5K 3yo and up 6F

Going to single here:
5 Red Falcon – Catalano shipper gets his softest test yet – no excuses WON
10 Brome – T. Proctor has this lightly treaded Pulpit (5 yo – 2 starts eeesh!) wired for sound – 2 nice bullets coming in but wasn’t much last for 7.5k at Remington, don’t think he’s much of a match for the 5 2nd
7 Mr. Panaccione- has been all over it at this level; faces tougher here 4th $2 P3 R8-10 115.00
P4 Big Ticket: 1,4,5,6,7//1,5,10//4,6,9,10,12//5,7,10 = 215.00 150.90

Small Ticket: 1,4,5,6//1,5,10//4,6,9,10,12//5 = 60.00 150.90

Mike....I looked at Buddha Pass for a while, and all though both his works at Ocala look good, the fact he sold for $100K and is running for a $12.5k tag first out just screams that something is wrong with this horse. His two fast works and breeding alone will insure he takes a ton of $$...but I am taking a stand.

Besides, Red Falcon is a cinch with the FERRER OFF/FIRST TIME SALLY angle

I agree that they are trying to give him away, but he at least put a couple works together. OTC has gone synthetic so the times are quicker this year. Years ago (with the old OTC surface), those would be stakes quality works.

My ticket I play today will be somewhere between the two I posted and will include Red Falcon, but I still have no confidence in him or any other horse in the race. Your angle is strong, but this one looks like he's in search of a heart....

Strange connections - breeder and owner are the same yet shows a auction sale - 100k buy back, maybe? Do they list buy backs this way? Looks like the breeders thought the horse was going to be something special and it was worth more than it obviously is. Still have to believe that by dropping it into mdn 12.5 first out there is something bad wrong...I avoided...

Yet ANOTHER example of the God awful ML odds. Any human being that thought Wheaty Moon deserved to be 8-1 ML...that is some serious good stuff they are smoking. Unreal...

Good call though Dan. $10 and change aint bad on that one IMO

They need to chop down that tree that blocks the start on 7 furlong races. Gets worse every year.

Bruce...I really like Grand Canal in the 9th. He was my sneaky pick of the day. Finished a good 3rd @ 8-1. With a bit more pace to run at, he may have gotten there and then the pick 4 would have paid unreal.

Oh well...live to fight another day.
