After a particularly horrible breeders cup for me (I was completely skunked) I found this story about the americatab pick 6 players pool that made me feel a little better and gave me a chuckle.

$80,000 was pooled together and pick6 tickets were structured by experts. Incredibly they did not hit!! Their big mistake was that they put about $60,000 of the total on tickets singling Dylan Thomas. Lahudood was the biggest price, but you didn’t have to go very deep to get the rest of the winners.

They did pick up some consolations, but that is a bitter pill to swallow after plunging with 80K. below are the tickets they played. On their main ticket, a $54,000 play, they were out on the very first leg because they did not have Lahudood. ouch!

the pick 6 paid over $320,000.

So they spent 54k on ONE ticket into a 3 million pool. That ticket alone was almost 2% of the pool. All I have to say is wow

your buddy Stanley Bavlish was one of the experts.

they hit the all button on the sprint and went 10 deep in the distaff.
its really hard to believe for me. also why weren't they more concerned with Dylan Thomas?

To spend 54 large on one ticket and have your single facing numerous adverse conditions is laughable in a way. Madone, if they would have given me that kind of bread to tackle this thing, my crew would be blowing our noses right now with Bennies. Man, I thought I was a novice capper. I'm a NHC champ compared to these manooks. We still made a good portion of money (about 3.5 times each what we invested), but I couldnt imagine what we'd be doing right now had we had a bankroll like that. Lahudood would have bought me my first house for sure. All said and done, the Trump Plaza poker room has three of us goonies to look forward to tomorrow night. 5-10 nl for me until the midnight tournament.

Oh, yeah, back to the imbeciles that singled DT like that. Were they tested for drugs afterwards?

ESPECIALLY with how soft it was, and every single euro was trying to tell our public that the horse wants nothing to do with soft ground. 54k on one ticket is nuts to me

You know, the only reason he won that thing last year was because of the ridiculous McCann's Mojove or whatever. When I saw him, he didn't look at a PP in the hour I was talking to him, just those EP/LP numbers that you use, no form or nothing, it was pretty hilarious.

Right???? What in the world were they thinking? HOrse was all out less than a month ago, add in the soft footing and the traveling, to single that horse is mindless.
I know you didnt like her at all, but with that kind of money invested, no excuses whatsoever, to leave Lahudood off of your main ticket. Shnaps, we had a 2$, 120$ total pick 3 starting with that race that we hit. If they are "experts", what does that make regular JOe Schmo's like us? Our bankroll was not even 1/54th of theirs (just about).

i had a horrible day too, but how could anybody spend that much cash on a ticket that didn't include eng chan on that track?

Am I correct when I say the Arc winner has never wheeled back and won in the Cup the same year. How in the world do they ignore that angle on their largest ticket? Chrissakes, the JuveFilly has been won by the favorite 6 times in a row now. Wouldn't that be a better place to single ?

good question, he's shown an affinity for that track.

interesting tho that the euros went 0- on turf, but no doubt next year we'll hear all about how how turfers are second class compared to the shippers.

arc winners have notoriously struggled in the turf three weeks later. but the arc has produced a turf winner, high chapparal i believe finished third in his acr before winning the turf.
