what about taking the train in? I think Amtrak runs from Maine to Boston. From North Station you would take the organe line to the Blue and get off at Suffolk Downs.

I expect to be there with my husband, and will be meeting a friend.

Coming up the Mass Pike, with the Big Dig, it's so much easier to get there.

I HATE driving into NYC .. and don't get me started on the Garden State Parkway in NJ.

I have 4 grandstand seats - they are supposed to be near the finish line. I was going to get a box but by the time I got around to doing it the best I could get is on the turn for home. Anyway, I am not sure if anyone is coming with me so I should have available space. I also like to wander around when I am there so we can all try to use the seats to take a load off. There are stickers for the seats, not tickets. I assume that as long as we are only using the seats that have been purchased, other patrons won't complain.

I am hoping that someone will organize a meeting place etc., that is not my strong suit, at that point we could check out the crowd control and figure out a way to best utilize the seats for all interested.

As an aside has anyone looked at the payouts at Suffolk lately? This past weekend the exactas seemed very generous. I was at the track yesterday for a few races and race 4 or 5 had an exacta payout of over $200, the trifecta was somewhere near $4000. I thought that was pretty impressive.

How about meeting at the Bud tent around 11:30 or 12?

FYI Lawyer Ron likely not coming

Brass Hat and Fairbanks considered the top 2, maybe Student Council

How about meeting at the Bud tent around 11:30 or 12? Which leads to the question "Where is the Bud tent?" Like I'll be there that early, as I'm coming with my husband.

At least he's learned that it is not acceptable to miss the first race.

In the past it has always been on left side of the winner's circle. Just after the final turn. I wouldnt' worry, Suffolk Downs is fairly small so you won't miss it. When you walk out from under the grandstand to the apron just look to your left. You won't miss it.

I'd rather crawl the entire length of the Garden State Parkway than to have to breathe the air of that rotten, snooty, racist city Boston.

Awesome, I wonder how are we all going to recognize each other. I will be the tall white guy wearing an orange Titleist hat and shorts.

Bill, had a few (well a lot ;) ) of brews with your brother Dan last Saturday at a party back home (Bill Krester's - Stone Arabia Rd.) Had a good time talking horses and seeing everybody back here. Have a good time @ the Cap.....taking a shot with Dr. Pleasure, think he's sitting on a "big" race.

Yeah he told me he ran into you last week. He is actually up here now, going to booze it up in Beantown tonight and then head over to Suffolk Downs tomorrow bright and early.

I was looking at Dr. Pleasure as well. He may not have the biggest marque names in it this year but I think it's a very competitive field. Should be fun. Hey Boston's only a 3.5 hr drive, you should come on down.

So, I didn't see anyone, sorry to miss everyone. I looked for a bit but then really needed to handicap the race as I had not done it earlier. I am not used to wating in line at Suffolk to get in a bet so I was shut out of a race and vowed to not let that happen again. I spent the day in the grandstand. I hope everyone had a great day and congratulations to anyone who got the exacta in the 8th - what a payout!

Tent? What tent?

And I got there late, as I feared. Had a great deal of help being late by the MassPike toll booths. 25 minutes to go two miles! (And, leaving, the Ted Williams Tunnel was a nightmare....)

My handicapping stunk... the less said about that the better! And two horses were vanned off. Sad, very sad. (I'm not sure how many noticed the first, as the horse completed the race.)

I did meet up with some friends, the facility was quite clean (although I'll never get over the undulating floors), the employees I talked to were helpful, the Moseley and the MassCap were fun.

Sorry about that. It was the first time they didn't have the tent for a big day in I can't tell you how long. I was quite shocked that they didn't.
